DOES PROVIDENCE REALLY NEED THESE STATIONS?

I'm not asking if any particular cluster needs them. I'm asking if Providence needs them,
Coast: Let's face it. They've been there in one form or another for how long? 20 years give or take? Their only claim to fame is a show they broke up a few years ago. Then they fired the remaining member last November. Granted the numbers probably didn't justify the expense but does a market this size need 2 mainstream AC stations when there are other format holes? The music on Coast may differ somewhat from Lite's but in essence the target audience is the same. Other than the fact that any morning show does gain a following and Clear Channel needs Coast's target audience who needs'em? They've sounded "hotter" at times over the last couple of years and ran with scissors for a while on the weekend with more music variety. How much longer are they just going to "be" there.
Hot 106: They serve their purpose because they draw the listeners from PRO-FM that PRO-FM doesn't want but does Providence need a hip hop station just because there's music PRO-FM doesn't want to play? They've had problems selling it and even selling the image as something other than what the format implies. Someone said they're rhythmic CHR. Nonsense. Fun 107 is rhythmic CHR and doesn't admit it because it work against them when it comes to selling. Hot is hop hop or urban or whatever you want to call it and doesn't admit it for the same reason. PRO-FM has the desirable audience in the same demographic. Providence may need hip hop music but does it need a hip hop format?
WLKW: Granted there's not much you can do with an AM station with a crappy signal but does anybody actually listen to this station with its oldies/soft ac format?
The Score FM: Never mind. I won't get into it or a hockey game will break out on here as usual.

I would think the WLKW calls and NOS format would be better served on the original 990 frequency. Let 1450 go back to being WWRI. Not sure if the WKRI calls would be avilable on AM again, though. Or we could do a rip roaring oldies format there with the WSVP calls and Drake jingles...
