Who said anything about 97.5 being all Hip Hop? Philly is lacking a dance station. Star and Bucwild are on a dance station with an urban lean in NYC. That format would do damage to Q 102 and Wired 96.5 and maybe even My 106.1. It would not surprise me if Radio One did buy 97.5 and put some type of station that would eat away at Q, Wired and 106.1.

Jazz formats are falling off all around the country

I think Pulse 87's lean is POP. They play some remixes of Chris Brown,Rhianna, and Mary Jane Blige. They try to stay away from Deep or Soulful House (98.7 KISS listeners). Come to think about it, they try to stay away from anyone who isn't Italian (they target older Hispanics from time to time).

It's competing with Z100 and KTU, therefore it leans CHR/Pop. An example of a dance station that leans urban is Party 105.3
I would be really happy if Philly gets Pulse 97.5

Actually I think it's a combo of both.

You do have pop sounds in there but with the urban you have the remixes going...versions that no other station is touching. It's more in the middle than Party 105, which leans Urban/Hurban with some dance...but little pop.
