Does Sirius do Censoring?

I was listening to BTLS and he was complaining about Sirius censoring him.

Does Sirius do any type of censoring? If so, under what circumstances? I notices songs censored on 70's, and Pulse during the week. But during the weekend, the songs seems not censored. Example, Alanis Morissette's song You Oughta Know. During the week the 'F' word is bleeped out, but on the weekends, nothing is bleeped out.

OK, if it is LIBELOUS or counter a clause in his contract, that's what a delay is for. It's probably inside and no big deal.

The censorship of songs...? What channels? What daypart? How about a time stamped recording of these incidents? It may just be laziness-or someone doesn't care about AM saying f**k, or letting you hear it as intended. So they put an edited version in the queue.

Two entirely different things.

if they censor it how do you know you missed it?

seriously, mecuryvapor got it right course they do. Tim Sabean told BTLS he was protecting BTLS when they dumped him so rightly or wrongly Sirius reserves the right to not let an on air person get them involved in a suit.

And they gotta consider the audience of each channel. Stern, Shade 24, Raw Dog is one thing, NFL channel, Sirius hits another.

Sirius first started doing this before stern even came on board. Alot of this started around the time they got into that deal with I believe was verizon to provide simulcast on some of their channels. Im about to dump sirius myself due to the fact im not getting quality product anymore.

I used to have the Sirius Business package for my movie theater's in-house play. They offered a list of channels that were guaranteed "business safe," including music channels 1-10. This means that they must play censored or "radio safe" versions of some songs.

A quality product means they have to have every channel with four letter words and adult humor? There is plenty of that available on Sirius, but you must realize not everyone wants that on every channel. Sirius tries to cover all its bases, and must offer "safe" channels also for a large part of it's listening audience and customer base. If every channel was "uncensored", they would have a lot of subscribers cancel- including myself. There has to be balance and I think there is. :)
