Does the Edge drop power at night?

I have noticed sometimes the Edge's signal at night sounds like crap. This happens mostly during the week, but then is OK on the weekends during the "Edge Club" stuff. Do they drop signal power at night?

Hummmm, I guess short of them doing transmiter repair at night (???) I don't know what it could be. New radio might be ready to take a dirt nap.

FM radio stations don't "drop their power" during transmitter repairs either.

We don't drop our power during repairs? I would have to differ with that thought. If I take the main 100Kw TX down for repairs and go to a 1Kw backup TX, didn't I just drop power?

Sorry, just a little confused by the comment of "we" don't drop power even during repairs.

The problem that this person may be experienceing just might be minor enviromental disturbances that can't be controled. Hills, buildings, Etc. or over modulation like most jocks love to do. Just peg those VU meters steady at +3.

Just a thought....

Actually, they have to reduce power if people are climbing up to the top of the tower. I've dealt with tower workers getting on the tower and having to lower power several times. Testing my memory, if your station has a paper transmitter log, you take a reading, lower the power, and write on the log, "Reduced power. Tower work." Then, take another reading. After the tower work is complete, you take a reading, raise the power, and write "Returned to normal power. Tower worker safe." Then, you take another reading. The last station I worked at when I had to deal with tower work used a computer to control the transmitter instead of a paper log. So, I just had to tell the computer there was tower work, and it lowered the power and logged it for me. Then, I had to tell it when the worker was safe, and it raised it back and did all the logging for me again.
