Does the FCC allow AM stations to broadcast over an FM Translator?

Doesthe FCC allows AMs to broadcast over FM translators he will have nighttime service and a good frequency would likely cover the entire county day and night. Does anyone have any idea how much a translator may cost and how to apply for the rights to do this?
 
I have heard stations simulcasting on both bands,so YES they do allow it..

You would probably have to contact the FCC my friend and ask them..

Currently they are allowing a handful of stations try it out. There is currently no procedure to make a routine application. They may announce a procedure soon. The problem is.... there is a lack of available channels. Most of them are full. If the FCC gives the green light, there may not be very many communities that will be able to have one.
