Does "This TV" start on KDAF on Monday?

The "This TV" website gives an ETA for it to appear on KDAF 33.3 as Monday, December 6. We're 2 days away now. Just curious if anyone had any insight into whether that was going to happen on time or not. Amazingly, KDAF's website has no mention of the network at all. They don't mention the coming of Antenna TV either, even though Tribunes says it's coming on January 1.

It might be poised to happen because KDAF is now running a content-free datastream on RF 32-5. According to RabbitEars, 32-5 is the physical channel for virtual 33-3, where This TV is to air.

KDAF 33 tested This 33.3 on Friday at 11:40AM. I was on for only a few minutes. I think seen This Network to by Flash CUT on Monday at 12:01AM. I have a question why is This Network not going to the old Latin 33.2 spot. Is KDAF going to add programming back to 33.2 sometime soon.

KDAF plans to add Antenna TV on 33-2 in January 2011.

Hello, You are right stations need to promote there subchannels. I bet they think main channel will lose viewers. If I was a KTXA 21.1 I start promoteing a rescan again. I move my signal to 29 and other station move to 18 on Jan. 1, 2011 at 12:01AM.

Thanks for the info. I still don't understand why stations here seem reluctant to promote their subchannels.

What's your source for that specific date and time for the KTXA migration from RF-18 to its final facility on RF-29?

Hey, I was just saying they needed to start promoteing the move now. A lot of people will be getting new HDTV for Christmas. New Years Day be a GREAT day to move RF channels and start 2011 on RF 29 at 1000K power for KTXA 21. I guess KDAF is waiting to start This Network. They did not start up on Monday...What is going on???? Hope they start this week..lol.

Maybe you need to re-scan your TV. I have This TV on 33.3. Also I noted that one of my converter boxes wouldn't tune it just by doing a quick scan to add new channels, had to do a full scan to get 33.3.

Looks like This started up a day late. It wasn't there Monday but it was there yesterday.

Watched the Stargate reruns on This last night, and man the PQ was awful! Even at SD there were compression artifacts every time there was the slightest movement. It was much better on 8.3. What can we do to get KDAF to give This a few more bps?

Off-topic, but I've also seen terrible compression artifacts on KLEG/44. Azteca looks much better on KATA/50.3. How is that possible? KLEG has two (identical) SD subchannels while KATA has four. The latter clearly has enough bandwidth, so you'd think the former would have plenty.

Now that Antenna TV is up and running, I see a few compression artifacts but it isn't too bad.... This, however, looks worse than ever! WTF is KDAF doing?

Probably going the cheap way out and not using all their bandwidth.

Just guessing, but it looks like they've got some sort of priority system. 33.1 is first and uses most of the bandwidth, whatever is left goes to 33.2, and if anything is left after that it goes to 33.3. (There's probably a limit on 33.1 and 33.2, so 33.3 gets some bandwidth no matter what, but it's clearly not getting enough.) Could that be?

I'm also guessing they took their old setup (for CW and LATV) and just tacked 33.3 on without thinking much about it. Hence 33.1 and 33.2 look about as good as they did in the LATV days, but 33.3 sucks :p

Does KDAF still air both Antenna TV and ThisTV, or were they just in a test period last month? I asked Time Warner when they're going to carry 33.2 and 33.3 and they're till trying to find out.
