WJAR used to share a copter with another station. I think it was NBC 10 in Philly. But the Copter crashed a couple years back and that was it. I never heard anything about a copter again. Did WJAR scrap the idea of getting a new one.

Yes, they used to borrow WCAU-TV's helicopter, which was a great deal for them because they have an identical logo to Philly's NBC-10, so it looked like it was actually their helicopter. It made for a very impressive illusion. Something that no Providence station could afford to (or needs to) keep full-time.
But now, that 'copter stays in Philly - as WJAR is no longer an NBC O&O (like WCAU) thanks to it's acquisition by Media General last year. The two stations now have different ownership, which put an end to the 'copter deal. You'll be happy to know that WCAU still gets a lot of use out of it though.
