Does your cable company have digital locals?

Here is the status of the local channels (by over the air number) that Comcast offers in Philadelphia:
3 Digital
6 Digital
10 Digital
12 Analog
17 Digital
23 Digital
29 Digital
35 Digital
39 Analog
57 Digital
61 Digital
69 Digital

This is probably because WHYY-DT is at low power/bad antenna position, and probably can't be received at the head end. Probably the same for WLVT-DT (39).

If you have digital cable, you can see WTMJ-4 (NBC Milwaukee), WITI-6 (Fox Milwaukee), WISN-12 (ABC Milwaukee) WMLW-41 (IND Milwaukee), WHA-52 (PBS Madison) and WDJT-58 (CBS Milwaukee) in digital format. If you don't have digital you can get them in analog.

A delayed feed of WMVS-10 (PBS Milwaukee) and WMVT-36 (PBS Milwaukee) are also available on digital.

All the above channels are also available in HDTV except WMLW and WHA.

Comcast in New Britain, CT (and I'd assume Hartford) offers several of the local channels on their digital cable tier:

302- WEDH-DT 42 (PBS) Hartford [1]
303- WFSB-DT 33 (CBS) Hartford
304- WTNH-DT 10 (ABC) New Haven
305- WVIT-DT 35 (NBC) New Britain [2]
306- WTIC-DT 31 (FOX) Hartford
307- WTXX-DT 12 (WB) Waterbury

The following channels are available but not carried by Comcast:

WUVN-DT (UNI) channel 46 Hartford (analog 18)
WHPX-DT (PAX) channel 34 New London (analog 26)
WCTX-DT (UPN) channel 39 New Haven (analog 59)

[1] WEDH-DT channel 42 (analog 24) is not available over-the-air yet.
[2] WVIT-DT channel 35-2 is NBC Weather Plus. Comcast makes that available to all digital customers on digital channel 193.

Insight in Rockford & Belividere (don't know about Freeport) carries WREX-DT, WTVO-DT and WIFR-DT on digital cable. I'd assume they'd carry WQRF-DT as well if they had a DTV on air. Insight also carries "UPN 16", but on the analog portion of the cable (on Ch. 16). (UPN 16 = WTVO-DT 16.1). There's no digital feed for WB-14 (WB 100+) and WREX-DT 13.2 (Live Power Doppler) is not carried.

One problem cable has is that it's still forcing users into the old NTSC/Analog paradigm. No multicasting, and channel numbers that don't remap.

It's hampering the transition, in my opinion. I'd like to see a new measure forcing cable to carry pure, unmodified, digital signals from OTA stations (no more compression, no stripping of subchannels), and carry all OTA stations at their assigned channel number. Any "tier" or local origination stations must be forced above channel 69, much the way they are on the satellite systems.

No. I think he means that Comcast is rebroadcasting the analog signals in digital to the digital boxes. You can notice a 2 second delay in watching these analog channel on a digital box when compared to a cable ready TV.

Comcast has 3, 6, 10, 12, 17, 29, and now 57 DT in the 200s as well.

(I'm in Comcast's Garden State- Cherry Hill headend).

Bright House Networks in Orlando carry the following local HD Channels.

1061 - WKMG Info Channel - News/Sports/Weather headlines with video of both traffic cameras and live doppler radar.

1090 - WFTV-DT (ABC)

1091 - WFTV Weather Radar - this used to be the home for ABC News Now but now it's back to the weather radar that preceeded ABC News Now.

1124 - WMFE-DT (PBS)

1125 - WMFE-ED (Florida's Knowledge Network and PBS Kids)

1126 - WMFE-CFAN (Florida Channel and local government agencies)

1127 - WMFE-Encore (PBS-repeats, Not on air yet)

1150 - WCEU-DT (PBS) - available to digital cable customers as well

Not Carried (note these channels are all 480i SD OTA)

WACX-DT - station broadcasts currently with extremely low power on an STA
WBCC-DT (all subchannels)
WOTF-DT
WRBW-DT (subchannel 2 = test pattern)
WRDQ-DT
