Does your radio station have bed bugs?

Stern won't shut up about it..at least it means he doesn't do half hour bits with Eric..Christ, he's been mailing it in lately..

They had one of the those Bed Bug dogs come into the building on Friday. The dog barks whenever he is in the vicinity of Bed Bugs. The dog barked in Howard's office, also in the studio next to his board. Then they took the dog out to his car and got the same result. He may not have been the one to bring bugs into the building, but like he said, they certainly seem to be following him around. He went on a 90 minute rant about it yesterday morning...... and as you heard..... he did the same thing again today.

The guy probably already has them in his apartment and just doesn't know it yet. Those effing bugs are a nightmare. I had neighbors who got them. So I had my freak out session a few months ago. Now Howard is having his turn. I have no Bed Bugs here at my place. But not a day goes by that I don't think about those blood suckers now. I slept on my couch for a month because I saw a video on youtube of bed bugs all over some guys mattress. It freaked me out so much that I'm still not sleeping in my bed every night. It's been very off and on. Just like HD stations. ;)

Stupid bugs are probably crawling in and out of Howard's console as soon as the lights go off. Sirius is on the 36th floor. They have an infestation on that floor as well as the 37th floor. That makes sense because Bed Bugs travel up and down floors as well as to immediate side to side units. If Howard has them in his apartment.... all I can say is good luck to Regis Philbin who lives in the apartment right below his.

With all the people who walk in and out of these radio stations it's only a matter of time before every radio station in Providence has to deal with this. They should just start looking for a good exterminator now. They are going to need one. Saying a prayer wouldn't hurt either.

Psychiatrist? It wouldn't hurt...

if it makes you feel any better, the current technology is to heat the area up to about 140 degrees and bake them.

They come in and remove some items, bring in some big ass heaters, and bake them in place

Somebody at Sirius brought up a good point. Electronic equipment is very sensitive to heat. Wouldn't there be a risk of damaging all that equipment if you baked the room for two hours at 140 degrees? You could remove the console and related computer equipment first, but what a logistical nightmare that would be. Then guess what happens if there are bugs already in that equipment? Your problem isn't really going to be solved when you put everything back in the studio. This is a problem that is going to end up costing radio stations all over the globe millions of dollars. We always thought consolidation was going to be the death of radio. However it looks like Bed Bugs might kill off radio first. :-\
