Does your station use MYSPACE?

RadioX on Long Island has the station website (www.radiox.fm) and a partner site on myspace.com (www.myspace.com/radioxfm) with separate webmasters. Disclosure: I'm the webguy for the radiox.fm site.

We have tied in many of the station promotions and link over to the "big" site from myspace. Myspace is great for keeping in touch with bands and the "hipper" listeners who populate myspace.

we used to have one at live 105.... cbs corporate lawyers ordered us to take it down......
dont know why they dont like free promotion, but a bunch of jocks still have their own......

Maybe because myspace is owned by a competitor of CBS: Newscorp (owners of Fox).

Between that & the growing reputation of myspace (hangout for child molesters, pervs in general, and "phishers"), look for more radio lawyers to shut down station myspace sites.

Probably the real reason is that Newscorp changed the rules and declared that they (MySpace) have rights to anything posted there. No big deal for the 15yo taking photos of her cleveage, but for musicians or radio stations it could mean problems.
