Dog House Returns

With WiFi and internet stations like DH this is just the beginning. This holiday season most phones will be able to go to an internet station and play the station on their cell phone. Sounds like a "walk Man" of 2008 and beyond.

As many insiders in the radio business I know would agree, the Dog House (JV and Elvis) have unfortunetly become two of the largest laughing stocks of our trade. Frustrated 40 something men who still think they're 22 years old and relevant. Know when to hang it up boys. You no longer bring anything of worth to the table.
I'm sure there are a couple of other industries in cooperate America that you can pursue and make meaningful wages and contributions.
Don't be like a washed up old boxer thinking you have one more fight left in you.
I heard you on many of my visits to NYC and knew you were on your last leg. Your Jackass style of radio has long since been forgotten and you don't have the ability or brainpower to evolve into anything else.
Just trying to tell you as it is from an insiders point of view. Sorry if I'm too blunt.

Elvis knew he was a forty year old guy talking to kids when still in SF. I think it's just hard to walk away from that act when you used to make a lot of $ and have a certain amount of adoration and clout. They should review the Beatles' "When We Was Fab..." Suppose it's better to be a has-been than a "never was," though!

We live out here in east bay and it's like nobody even remembers the Doghouse.......

You are full of ish!!! and don't act like you are representing the bay. Do you know WILD's ratings before and after the get rid of the Doghouse? Wont you check their Website and the people who are calling their show "DOGHOUSEFM.com" and find out how many Doghouse fans from the bayarea who are still upset and still searching for a morning show that is worth listening for. Thank god they are back, and it is only matter of time until the word spread around. DOGHOOOOOOUSE!!!!!!WHAAAT!!!

I am a Dog House fan, but I can look at this objectively. When someone is not on the air for close to 3 years, the average radio listener forgets. Nobody who listens to Wild still can say that they'd rather have T-Man than the Dog House, other than the few on this board.

If what JV said is true, they have gotten offers in other markets, but they don't want to do it. They can't get back on in the Bay Area because their name has been dragged and smeared through the mud. The two biggest radio companies both had to get rid of them, for whatever reason, just or not. But I can guarantee you most, if not all stations would love to have them on. They have an established, hardcore fanbase, something that is hard to find these days. Stern, O and A and The Dog House probably have the most loyal following in radio today among those type of shock jock shows.

If anything, Wild is still making money off of them. See: Comedy Jams

I have gotten into with Dog House fans in the past just because I have posted that their "record breaking" numbers in SF just were not there. They had fine numbers, usually right there 1/2 in Dog House demo's with Stern. But not numbers never seen before, not #1 book after book. Those were just the facts, plain and simple.

But, many of these rips on the Dog House don't mean anything.

-They are older than their demo. Stern is in his 50's. O&A are in their 40's. Carolla is in his 40's. Don & Mike are late 40's, early 50's. Part of being a radio professional is being able to play to your demo. Their age is not really a big deal.

-They are jerks. Well, that seems to be what I have heard too, especially JV. The one funny, outside radio run in I had with him was with the Boy Club at an event in NikeTown, where he was being dissed, puffed out his chest and demanded to see who was controlling these kids. Well, that was Ronnie Lott. JV's chest went down and he tried to act like Ronnie's buddy then (Ronnie had none of that). But, big deal. Again, I have heard that O&A are not exactly nice guys. And have heard some pretty bad things about Don of Don & Mike. And, don't even get started on local prima donna talent.

-No one in the Bay remembers them. Yes, they do. Their numbers when they started on 106.9 confirm that. Shows don't put up numbers like that without a built in fan base.

I'm sure the Dog House could get a job in another market if they wanted, but it is their fault that they are not going to be in the Bay Area anytime soon. They burned their bridges at CC and CBS. That leaves what? Cumulus here in the Bay Area. I don't think they are a fit on KNBR and they would not fly on KFOG nor The Bone. If they want to get on regular radio again, they probably need to swallow some pride and go to a market in the 10-25 range.

Their internet idea is fine, maybe just to keep their name out there and keep their current P1's happy, and I guess they can try to wait out the satellite merger to see if they could be in play there too. But, this is not "the future" as many are trying to spin it.

But, again, for the doghouse fans to flood these boards with "DOGHOUSE" is just going to do nothing more annoy the folks out their that not only don't like them, but also those that don't have an opinion one way or the other.

Noone remebers the Doghouse trust me...I go to school at Berkeley and live in Oakland and if I ever bring them up noone remembers. I only remember because i am getting my start in the radio industry and study the business.

I think T-Man has more talent in his little pinky all other radio hosts have in their whole bodies. He gets buzz. We talk about him in my radio class.... at our school radio station people imitate him. Sell the NUmbers wrote that his ratings are through the roof in san Jose. I don't have access to ratings to verify it but i believe it. and It's been less than a year. that will carry over to san francisco soon i predict. If not then at least we've enjoyed him. we never thought we would be into a show that doesn't broadcast from the bay.

Radioprofit is correct, the Doghose are like 50 year old guys trying to relate to 20 yearolds. they can't change with the times. noone wants to hear them ranking on people anymore when there the ones who are old men and pathetic. they're a one trick pony and have no ability to be dynamic.
the Doghose is also lying when they say they've turned down jobs. they'd take anything. thats why their new website looks like one big demo tape. They're desperate. their website reiks of how desperate they are. they are hoping it will get them an offer on real radio. There would be no harm in them saying what offers they've turned down so let's hear it so me and my buddy's can verify it. I know most of the people writting on this board are JV and Elvis themself... so tell us what specific offers have you rejected so we can look into it? looking forward to a response.

Don't forget Imus, 105 years old in '08. Still walking, I hear, tho with assistance. Can't recognize family, but occasionally hums an almost recognizable song from the 70s. Me and You and a Dog something.

But his target audience is people 100+ years old.

I just want to hear stories from the FAN AE's that were able to sell his show for good $$$ like they were.
