I just had to modify this... was today's Doghouse a repeat or was it live? Looking at the previous thread, I can't tell. If this was from an earlier episode, then i'm sorry. However, if it was live, then it was a fantastic piece of audio:
Heres my original post-
It's been a while since i've had the urge to post about something that happened on the air, but today's Doghouse show was unusually exciting. Apparently, O&A ran over their 9pm stop time this morning due to an "extended" story from Anthony, thus pushing back a scheduled interview into the 9am hour. As a result, they didn't get off the air until 9:30am. This pissed JV and Elvis off enough that they actually called O&A (or O&A called them) from Sirrius. As a result, both shows got into a live, on air battle about who was right- Doghouse argued that they should be allowed to start at their scheduled time, O&A said basically that since their show is syndicated and "bigger", they are allowed to go over. The convo ended badly for JV, who was told by O&A that they should go back to San Francisco. Opie also kept harping on the fact that management wants them to push their slot to 10am. Very sandboxy, but great radio none the less, to have two shows that are on the same carrier duking it out over satellite and terrestrial. I only heard JV and Elvis's side after the debate, however I would have loved to hear the XM feed. All I know is Opie sounded pissed, and JV wasn't much happier.
What I want to know is how does this affect the syndicated markets? Do they sign off at 9 regardless or do the stations have to keep the show on until signoff? However, this was probably one of the best segments I have heard on a morning show in quite some time.
