They know about it. The guy that runs the official JV and Elvis blog is a member.

Just for clarification guys.

I was literal when I said 'No, they won't get fired over this.'

As in, no, I really don't believe they will get fired. Anyone who thinks this is worth getting fired over is terribly misinformed.

Sarcasm on message boards is hard to pick up. I should have quoted who I was responding to.

All the best.

If someone doesn't reign them in, they will push until something gets them fired. Watch.

I don't believe so. They've learned from their mistakes.

They have much to lose at this point. They're not going to try to see how far they can go before getting the axe again. The show has evolved since the WNEW days.

They have all the freedom they need on XM. Why jeapordize their success by airing something objectionable on Free FM when they can just do it on XM?

But, you are entitled to your opinion sir. IMO, I don't believe they're willing to risk as much as they were back on WNEW.

You obviously never listened to the first months of their XM show.

I'm fully aware of their return via XM, the whole 'assault the media' and all that jazz. That's not relevant. What happens on a broadcast station is. I maintain that unless they gather some self control (which I think is unlikely) they will be canned from the terrestrial stations (again) and go back to their small but loyal following on XM where they will languish in near obscurity until someone gives them a 5th or 6th chance.

Couldn't we just eliminate O&A and all the other "shock jocks", and "radio wars" and stupid radio and go back to playing Pat Boone, Frank Sinatra and having intelligent conversation on the radio instead of all the current crap we have? :'(

You're not getting it.

You are claiming that O&A are going to get fired for their on-air behavior because of their bitchin' and complaining and arguing with other hosts.

If O&A are getting the ratings, and O&A are bringing in the ad money, then they are untouchable if they aren't "team players".

The way the show is structured now, they can save the non-FCC friendly stunts for XM, and do their current events/guests/comedy riffing on Free.

Don't forget - how many times has JV or Elvis come in drunk in less than a year at Free FM? That's a much, much bigger red flag than ANYTHING O&A could do.

O&A got fired because it was a slow news week and CBS management didn't stand up for them and buckled to a guy with a good contact list and nice letterhead. The Catholic CHURCH didn't condemn O&A... the Catholic LEAGUE did. There is a big, big, HUGE difference.

No, I'm not. I said that this is the start down the slippery slope toward where they will do something (NOT THIS) that will get them fired if they don't get some self control.

Time will tell.

its funny when you listen to the same story with audio from 2 sides that you can lean towards o&a when you hear their audio but then lean towards the doghouse when you hear thiers

...I don't...The Doghouse is clearly the better of the two on these airchecks, but neither of them leaves a particularly amusing impression...

If you are from the idea this was about ratings, well I think it was. It has gotten both sides alot of press. A quote from Mark Chernoff PD WFNY 92.3 Free FM " Attention is good, as long as no one gets hurt." They had both shows in all the papers.

Part of the Doghouse's rip on O&A were their SF #'s. New SF book just out, O&A were #8 in their timeslot in 18-34 men.

The #2 show was Strawberry at Wild, and he was cancelled. So number #8 is good right?

Huh?

First off, they are on in totally different time slots on totally different stations.

But, in that 18-34 male demo:

Stawberry was #4 on morning drive on the #3 station in the Bay Area.

Opie & Anthony were #8 in mid days on the #17 station.

Apples and oranges for you to to try to compare the two.

I wasn't saying O&A were doing well, I was just putting the facts out there.

You are right morning drive and middays are totally different.

O&A are morning drive on the east coast, but middays on the west coast. Still the numbers suck for the west coast. And the East coast is all about 18-34 male. Whoopie is pulling a 3.5 for 24-53 male and female. Those are better numbers then O&A for the same demo. 92.3 is in trouble and O&A think that they are the ones to save the station. Hey O&A better watch out for a format change and they will drop you like it's hot.

back the the start.

Morning drive East coast and morning drive west coast are totally different
Middays east coast and middays west cost are totally different.

However, O& A signed up for the worst stations in the country. Well that hurts.
