Doghouse

I am from the Bay Area. We really miss the Doghouse (J.V. and Elvis) here. The new morning show that replaced them is horrible.

I think I understand why I have heard that they are not doing well.

When The doghouse was at it's peak, They were great. The show was full of erergy. They would play music on their show, HOWEVER the best thing about the music, is that it was NOT music on the playlist. They had a mixer come on in the morning, and do a mix of high energy/hip hop.... and it wasn't what the station played the rest of the day. It was different, and I loved it for that. Also they would tell things how they were, and have taks about sex/drugs, etc etc. Very interesting, Very funny, fast paced, high energy. The ratikngs were through the roof...... Then about 2 years ago they lost a lot of that energy, not sure exactly why. They seemed to lose touch with their audience. I mean when they were at their peak, anything, and I mean ANYTHING that got mention on the air, would sell out (concerts) it was crazy.

Now they are only talking... no music, no connection with the comunity, no established fan base who understand them... ouch, thats got to be hard.

So my question is this.. What is your opinion of them in NY?

Really? Not according to the San Fran board!

Re: Doghouse (Jv and Elvis)

According to the San Fran board, some cynics do not like them and it is very possible that the people on this board are not the target demo they attracted in the Bay Area.

18-34 Men and Women were the coveted target and the station they were on had a huge Hispanic fan base. Friends of mine and many college students miss them dearly.

A reason why they may not be working (I have posted this earlier this year) is that their act might be stale and considered unoriginal to the audience in New York. They complained that many shows accross the country were taping their show and copying a lot of the material and stunts they were doing.

For example, much of the stuff seen on MTV's Jackass were blatant ripoffs of Jv and Elvis. On their video released years even before Jackass, they had a stunt guy go to the hospital to have a tube up his rear-end. Years later, it showed up on Jackass. According to JV, MTV even approached them to do a show but they did not want to relocate to Los Angeles.

If they were in New York maybe five years ago, they might be the talk of the town, but now the shtick may be seen as trite.

Well put, and all sounds accurate as to match what I've heard over the years as a Bay Area native.
