DOJ To Clear Channel: More Stations Must Go

Including Cincinnati.

From what the Cinci board is saying it's ALL of the CC Cinci stations.

Other markets; Houston, San Fran and Las Vegas. Not sure if it's all in those markets.

Enquirer columnist John Kiesewetter took a guess that either pairing of - WOFX/92.1 and WNNF/94.1 - or - WKFS/107.1 and WLW/700 - may be on the chopping block.

Read the column here:

The latter would be astonishing... not just because of the heritage, heft and stature WLW still has (even under CC control). Now, I'd be in agreement that CC would dump one of their prized signals in 700 - but what's their asking price? Or are they forced into selling the stations REGARDLESS of the cost?

Here's why I'd ask that: as the trend towards a rapid devaluation of radio is just about here (how'd YOU like to be Emmis and Radio One in Los Angeles right now?), it will be swift and severe. Whoever would end up buying a WLW or WNNF might try to wait purposefully so as not to overpay for either station... or all of them. If not, there would be a bad case of buyer's remorse. Ask Citadel, or any of THEIR stockholders.

I'd like to be Randy Michaels right now. Or Bonneville top suits Joey Oxley and Jim Farley...

I think Randy is a great programmer and while Zell has money, he is more concerned with Chicago right now. Bonneville is in the market right now and they want some more goodies to play with. They can own one more FM property. They can own an AM too.

Im not a betting man, but this time Im gonna bet that Bonneville is having some serious meetings right now!
