Wikipedia (yeah, I know) has a pretty good summary of how she broke into show biz and her early life. Based upon what I have read from other sources it seems pretty accurate. I did not contribute to it.

I think Dolly Parton's "Circle of Life" was even better than "Coat of Many Colors." It was funnier in places. Two of the one-liners made me laugh out loud! And the second half was nerve-wracking!

Apparently, 'corn pone' is good for ratings and for business. In part because of Parton's movie, NBC saw it's highest ratings (other than for special events like the Olympics) in 20 YEARS last week!
