Don Geronimo Named PD Of KHTK/1140

During the 3 PM segment of his show on KHTK/1140 this afternoon, Don Geronimo announced that he had renewed his contract with the station through 2014, and that he has been named the station's new program director.

I'm thinking that Jim Rome and Robert Wuhl can start looking for new affiliates in the greater Sacramento area...

Like maybe ESPN 1320? or maybe a new ESPN 106.5, if that happens?

Well he is getting headlines now with the flap over a comment he made about Tesla band member Brian Wheat.Whether you agree or not this is what you get.IMO CBS better get their lawyers warmed up.

It will be his first PD title since his brief run as program director of WJFK in Washington, the flagship of his old "Don & Mike Show" (which eventually became "The Mike O'Meara Show" upon his abrupt departure in 2008).

For his first move, he'll name Opie & Anthony as the new "Rise Guys"! :p

It looks like anything I google on the Brian Wheat thing has been removed from almost every site that google linked, but best I can tell, Don said something about him looking like Garth from Wayne's World.

I wonder why everything was taken down relating to this? I'm guessing there is more to the story. If that's all Don said, I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Wow. He made a comment about a guy who looks like Garth from Wayne's World and plays in a pretty-much forgotten third-rate '80s hair band, and some third-rate jock from 98 Rock nearly wet himself running to Tesla so he could tattle. Oh, no!!! Call the attorneys immediately!!!

(By the way, Pat Martin, why were you listening to KHTK? Shouldn't you have been working on your ad libs for Get The Led Out or something?) ;)

Spoken like a true has-been museum piece.

As long as he answers prayers to replace Napear on the station, he'll be a great PD. Why Napear is still allowed to do a show while being paid by the Maloofs without any disclaimer in his show baffles me.

What the hell difference does it make who's paying Napear? It's well known that Napear isn't a talking head for the Maloofs. If he can't talk about something, he won't. If he can say something, it's usually pretty well informed.

Remember: if YOU can do a better sports radio show -- a better ANY show, for that matter -- get some sponsors, get some airtime, and be a top draw in your market for 16 years. Then come back in and disclose who YOU'RE getting paid by...otherwise, get Sirius XM; a better AM radio to pick up distant signals; or, better yet, a clue.
