Don Hermann - 1530 WSAI

Back in the mid 1990's up to sometime in 2000 WKJK 1080AM in Louisville carried the feed from 1530 WSAI in Cincinnati in the morning from 6:00am to 9:00am. Don Hermann did the newscasts and also co-hosted with Nick Clooney. The format was "Adult Standards" but it was nice in that it was local and live where they actually answered the phone and gave the time during their broadcast. I was just wondering what happened to Don after the show was taken off. I enjoyed the program very much and listened to it while at work. As I worked alone I listened to the radio a lot then to keep me company.

Thanks,
Chad

For some reason I seem to remember hearing somewhere that Hermann has since passed on. I hope I am wrong though and I could very well be. Wasn't he around 70 when he was on WSAI? Some of the stories he had told about the "old days" of Cincinatti that he can remember kinda puts him into that age bracket.

Looking back now I actually enjoyed 1530 WSAI better when they did standards than "real oldies".

Don Herman ended his 55 year radio career at the age of 75 in 2002 at WSAI. Reports of his passing have been greatly exaggerated.

You may be thinking of Bob Braun. I think he worked with Don Hermann at WSAI.

Didn't Don Hermann produce those "Cincinnati Christmas Past" specials?

Yup, and he even published a book of those Christmas Past stories. After he worked with the late Bob Braun, who died in early 2001, Don Herman (one 'n' in Herman) worked with another Cincinnati broadcasting legend, Nick Clooney.

Didn't know about the book. I have Volumes 1 and 3 of those Christmas Past cassettes. I should go on the internet and see if the book or the Volume 2 tape is available anywhere.
