I know back under the old PD/OM (Rick Knight) that WKIP was the only local AM to show up in the ratings... like a 1 or 2 share. Granted the WABC ratings continue to grow in the Poughkeepsie ratings - which it was always believed that some of the those numbers were really WKIP's. Call letter confusion....because they carrry a lot of the same programs. But I believe that was part of Rick's plan. I'm not sure since Rick is gone how the station is performing. During those periods, there was tons of local news and traffic. They would chime in with breaking news events. Rick would go cover certain events and carry them live...like when the Gov came to Poughkeepsie. From what I understand sales were pretty good. They were getting pretty good spot rates.
I'm sure most of that has gone away. Last I knew they didn't even have news during the midday hours.
As for Imus. Rick always said that they Imus sold well - clients loved him and wanted to be on the show but ratings wise.. it was a little flat compared to the rest of the dayparts.
