There may be some truth in that. Both were once on WNBC New York at the same time. There was certainly a competitive battle, but then again it might have been manufactured by WNBC. Doesn't really matter because it equaled good radio.

The view of that from Imus is he was addicted to alcohol & cocaine at the time. He cleaned himself up in 1987.

There definitely were a lot of egos in that building at the time. Even with all the talent, WNBC couldn't delay the inevitable.

What is the most unusual station to clear "Imus in he Morning?" I would have to guess Beethoven 1290 in West Hartford, Connecticut would have to be near the top of the list. "Beethoven 1290 - Imus in the Morning. Classical Music all day long." They carried the show for a few years, but dropped the show sometime before Beethoven 1290 and their Classic Rock sister station 106.9 The Rock were sold to K-Love in 2014.

When Howard began playing his WNBC shows on his Sirius channel, he played clips of Imus on his WNBC show. I didn't know that when I used to hear Howard bash Imus on 92.3.

That's what killed my father. Actually it was a side effect from the treatment for prostate cancer that killed him, but that's splitting hairs. It can be a tough way to go.
