Don Kent dies at 92

Yesterday I read and posted about Bruce Bradley. This is a lot of WBZ memories in a couple of days. Of course I remember Don Kent more from TV, while waiting for him and Jack Chase to read the no school announcements.

I do remember that Dave Maynard used to delight in getting Don to start laughing uncontrollably while trying to do his weather report. I'd be driving to work and laughing like an idiot in my car.

I grew up in a "BZ" household, both radio and T.V. for the news. Don Kent was what a weatherman is in my opinion. Personality and commitment to the weather. Local . Knew what he was talking about and delivered it with a style all his own. After he retired on BZ you could still listen to his reports on Cape Cod at WQRC. His voice was instant for recognition. Goes to show once again, it's not how smooth you are that makes you good. it's how much you love what you are doing that shows through.
