PHOENIX (AP) - A U.S. Marshals Service spokesman says a Phoenix-based TV pitchman charged with running a nationwide scheme to sell essentially worthless Internet-based businesses has died in an apparent suicide while in federal custody:

Wonder if he and Billy Mays are scamming any angels right about now... check that - there probably wouldn't be angels where Don LaPre is going...

He was a con man, but no one should have to die. He should've sucked it up and done his time if guilty. I still like him better than Kevin Trudeau
