Don Payne, formerly of KAAY, Little Rock, AR, later of KLPO, Little Rock, WZUS and WAZY Lafayette, IN, WZPL Indy, IN, WKRQ of Cincinnatti, OH and WHHH in Indy, IN, now Chief Engineer for Radio One in Indy, IN...informed me a few days ago that he's been diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas. So far, he's being successfully treated, the tumor has shrunk 23%.
Don has the distinction of being the last deejay to air Beaker Street on KAAY before management discontinued the program. No airchecks of this, nor anything Don did are known to exist. If anyone happens to have an aircheck of Don at any of the above stations, I'd like a copy to send him.
