Don Polec to leave Action News

So basically, he is gonna be like Mr.Food, and Mrs. Fixit. He will do the same stories he does now, but instead of for ch6, he will sell his services to stations all over (including ch6, which like mentioned will probably air his segments).

Sounds like a smart plan to me. Probably should've done it years ago. If enough stations pick up his segments, he will make more money. He's gonna be his own boss. For us, the only real loss might be the local aspect, as he probably won't be doing stories that promote local business anymore. If anything, a better question here is why didn't ch6 do this with him year ago?

I assume the reason he is leaving is, because ch6 has been adding more work to his workload to justify keeping him on the payrole. He use to just do Don Polec's world, and a live shot here and there for special occasions like the 4th of July. However in the last 2 years they added other segments, like bizarre segments, and more live shots.

Well Don will be missed from a veiwer's point of veiw. He did a peice on my hugh movie screens (www.moviesunderthestarz.com) and my letting him know it was the 75th anniversary of the drive-in movie (a jersey thing, camden). This was fimed at Franklin Square, Philly. We do friday night movies free to the public.

I got an amazing amount of hits from this story(1,000's). Don is a very popular personality/reporter on Channel 6. I can give testimonial to that,I did get allot of calls from it.

Oh that blue blazer Don has been wearing for yers, umm...Don there is blue duct tape you get from Home Depot to patch up the lining, just think you can get another 20 years out of it.(smile)

Good Luck to you in whatever you Don, and whatever it is it will be some very special.

I was with a friend years ago at the King of Prussia Mall (early 1990's), and he was there with his then-young daughter. He was very down-to-earth, very low-key. He told my friend that he doesn't watch his own segments on TV.

I am going to miss his slapstick "Don Polec's World" segments. I always wondered how Jim Gardner, for all of these years, could follow the segment with a straight face?

Good ridddance. This type of clowning around is a major reason local so called news is a disgrace.
