I just love that RWS raves about how GOOD cookie-cutter, dime-a-dozen, no personality or passion, put nothing at all into your shows, card reading jocks are (look back at who he endorses...it is almost as if he is being sarcastic when he raves about people like Keith Young and Frank Lario), and then bashes Couzin Ed of all people! If rock, and the rock audience is what WYSP wants, why would they not take Ed into consideration? He got them great numbers every time...in fact consistenly #1 in the desired male demo when he did afternoon drive. The only reason they moved him from afternoons in the first place was because CBS was afraid CC was going to acquire O&A and put them up against Stern in the AM. CBS got O&A first, and corporate made their major market stations put them on in afternoon drive slots.

I can remember when Couzin Ed was on Y100, and that show was not that "vulgar, trash mouthed." because an alternative audience is seen as much more open-minded/intelligent. When WYSP hired him, he adapted to the needed audience. Rule #1 of public speaking is to know your audience. Ed obviously does and has factually proven it.

I can't believe YSP would go for Cousin Ed before trying to get back M&H. I dont know maybe YSP is trying to get them both back so they can have a semblance of what the station was maybe? I do think M&H should move on though unless YSP would give them a chance to do a show. Ed might be good for quick, wacky bits and pre-planned phone calls etc.

Or, what WYSP really needs, ratings. I know from the inside that Ed consistently had #1 ratings...in almost every shift they threw him into. Remember, radio is first and foremost a business. Not to mention, ever hear one of Ed's artist interviews...compared to anyone else in this market? The need to hire someone who knows his sh*t about rock. Nuff said.

That is what I missed about Couzin Ed the most, when he interviewed artists, he knew his sh*t, and was always prepared with solid questions as opposed to the basic "how was it recording with...? how was it touring with...? whens the next album...?". Apparently I am not the only one glad that Ed is back.

YSP is not looking to rehire M&H. And paying one DJ instead of two is a no-brainer.

Its a done deal, believe it, sad to report. I cannot understand all of C' E 's relatives on this board defending him. What did he ever do, is he that great, I doubt it. All he did was kiss up and brown nose, everything he did had to do with sex and getting L#@D, or for a fact when YSP was playing music a few years back, everything had to do with sex, and vulgarity. A real male ego, tetesterone format, if that is what the listener wants to hear what a sad world we live in. When Tommy or Frank were jocking you heard music and info about the artists, and Frank surely knows his rock and so does rock artist Tommy, not what Tanya(who is happily married) was wearing or who was screwing who. Ed just flows with the vulgarity and sexual retort, how much can one take. Also, is anyone else tired of hearing these staged calls on Kidds shift, with people upset that the talk is gone and music is back, come on can't you do something more original. One caller was so upset she said I hate all this music where is the talk....yeh right....If YSP is concerned about the listener knowing that the music is back and the talk is gone, why are they allowing this reverse advertising.

At this point, you've fairly accurately described Ed's show. Sounds like you were a bigtime listener!

Maybe because Chris's show is the top afternoon drive show in the city for the coveted 18-49m demo?

The posts in this thread have nothing to do with being a relative of Couzin Ed or whatever. It has to do with the very basic ideas of running a successful radio station, something you consistently demonstrate you have not a clue about. Unfortunately, you also consistently demonstrate you have no interest in considering the facts and having an intelligent debate, choosing to hate on everything instead.

He knew his music, bands, had great interviews and was entertaining. But back to my question-you say it's a done deal. I haven't heard him or seen any press releases about this.
