Donnie Michaels Now PD WPKF; Aaron 'Dave' McCord PD At WBWZ
CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40/Rhythmic WPKF (96.1 KISS-FM)/POUGHKEEPSIE longtime PD JIMI JAMM has stepped down from his duties as PD at the station and at sister Hot AC WBWZ (STAR 93.3) to handle MD duties for both. He's replaced at WPKF by DONNIE MICHAELS, who marks a return to the station, and at WBWZ by AARON "DAVE" McCORD, who remains Country WRWD/POUGHKEEPSIE PD/afternoon stud.

MICHAELS, most recently APD at WHYI (Y100)/MIAMI, told ALL ACCESS, "I am very grateful for this tremendous opportunity to once again program this station, which I signed on in 2000 as the first PD. I want to thank VP BOB DUNPHY and JIMI JAMM for their support. JIMI has done a great job, and I'm happy he's staying aboard."
 
Good luck to Donnie Michaels, I wish "Kiss-FM" should stop playing this hip-hop/R&B garbage, maybe they should tweak a little bit to make a competitor to K-104. What is Jimi Jamm could do next, are they going to program another hip-hop station somewhere?

That "garbage" has served WPKF well and have been matching K104 punch for punch for several years now. Why would Jimi only work at another Hip Hop station? He also had a winning Hot AC station. He also had 92-9 Rock winning with young males before it flipped formats to Cool. I think he could go program whatever he wants, but one of the trades says he wants to go work for a record label, so maybe thats why he stepped down.

No,they should stop playing the HIP HOP garbage (R&B is good,especially SMOOTH R&B (Body&Soul))

I know, Kiss-FM had been playing rap music for a number of years, but it sounded a lot like Hot 97 and Power 105 in New York City. I hope it needs to toned down a little bit and play some better songs. I remember when Rick Dees first started syndicated in mornings 5 years ago before T-Man. It was better, but now Rick is at KMVN in Los Angeles as "Movin' 93.9" doing his own local morning show.

Donnie Michaels had been PD at Kiss-FM in Poughkeepsie and it lasted a week and Jimi Jamm had just came back, why did they do that? Maybe Jimi would go back to all hip-hop and R&B, I don't know.

Ouch, Jaques, that's pretty harsh. Funny, but harsh.

Donnie is really, really talented and I hope he just got caught in the CC financial crunch and that this isn't "laptop" related. The guy has been beaten up enough and I hope he gets a gig soon.
 
donnie sounds like a nice person. can only hope he finds something soon.
 
I hope he finds some thing also. He sounds like a very nice person. I got to do two airchecks of him on KISS FM.
 
I worked for Donnie at K104 when he was APD there. He's a great guy and very intelligent - he has an intuitive grasp of the craft both on-air and off. I hope he gets a good break, a chance to really shine.
