Donny & Marie Star Wars Show

M

MegoMan

Guest
I just recieved a DVD today of the Donny & Marie Star Wars Show which as I recall originally aired September of 1977. D & M made referrence to it being the first show of the new season. Besides See=Threepio, Artoo-Detoo, Darth Vader, & Chewbaca appearing, the other guests were Paul Lynde, Kris Kristopherson, & the Osmond Brothers. As I recall ABC News briefly broke in with a special bulliten(SP?) voiceover announcing the death of Hubert Humphrey. I think that was during one of the commercial breaks(commercials were cut from this DVD). <P ID="signature">______________

Corrections: "reference," "C3PO," "R2D2" and "bulletin."

Seriously, that was an ABC show? I've always hated Marie Osmond with a passion. Donnie used to get on my nerves but he seems to be good for humor at other peoples expense, as a recent episode of "Family Guy" showed. The show implied that the two had slept together and "Donny" looks at "Marie" and then says "Don't tell our mother!" :)

Donny and Marie won the Friday 8 PM (ET) slot consistently
for three years (1976-79) for ABC.

Re: Star Wars Variety Special on TV

I can remember the original Star Wars cast, with the exception of Sir Alec Guinness, appearing in a holiday show on television shortly after the first movie was released back in the 1970s. It is the only time I believe that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill appeared together as their Star Wars characters.

From what I remember this program was just horrible. With singing and dancing and you can see that the trio, especially Ford, was not having a good time.
