Don't Ask, Don't Tell

In this day and age of instant communication and on-demand information, radio stations still won't break the taboo about talking about personnel changes on-air. In some ways it's insulting, but it's also reminds me of a slower, more genteel time of grey flannel suits and pink pillbox hats.

The only exception I can think of was when 1250 went all out to explain the Mark Madden dismissal.

When/how many times would you bring it up on air?

When a new Jock takes over a time slot do they ever acknowledge that they will be the new person for middays or whatever?

If the listener liked the departed talent, bringing it up is pointing out that you did something they won't like.

If the listener did not like the departed talent, they are presumably now happy.

So where's the upside of all that?

If I recall, if somebody left the Fun Lovin 5 +1 on KQV, they were just gone.

I was glad to see that Paulsen did address this at the beginning of the show yesterday. It was nice to be treated as an adult.
