Sacking Carl Jeffers before Super Tuesday?

I know there are some other threads with this topic but this bears repeating.

This will go down as one of the worst decisions in local radio (I think - I'm not an expert). I want to send KIRO a picture frame so they could stick it on the wall to remind them of this prediction. This guy belongs on a national stage. Is good radio programming something that only KUOW can afford? Have they sucked all the air out of the room? Is the AM listener so stupid that we have to be constantly reminded why it is the Ron and Don show?

I listed to TBTL twice. The first topic? ....What was happening in super hero comics (seriously adults talking about what was happening in the Spiderman series etc.). I would like to congratulate KIRO for finding the one topic I care least about and beating it into the ground on a major market station. The second "show" just sounded like a couple of drunk trashy people talking about common observations.

If you ask me these changes have amatuer written all over them. I don't work in the business but Jeffers, if you ever come to this board you are great! You have class in a genre where you suffer a penalty for that. Jazz wasn't my thing but I even like your intros. I know he will be on with Dave Ross but I don't have the opportunity to listen then.

Just my 2 cents but I'm taking those 2 cents elsewhere KIRO.

Jeffers I'll be looking for you...good luck buddy!

Well here is my quick 2 cents. I REALLY disliked Carl Jeffers and I REALLY like Ron & Don. I would tune in when Carl was on and hear about 3,000 HUMS an hour. I never listened more then a few minutes, even when he was a guest on Dave's show.

I listen to KIRO just about all day. The new show at 7pm has got to go. It is REALLY REALLY bad.

I'm also glad Phil is back on in Seattle (starting @ 10pm).

And here's MY $.02. (And worth at least half that.)

I have no idea who Carl Jeffers is/was.

I can't stand Ron & Don. They sound like fill-in hosts brought over from The End due to a last minute snaffoo. They get MAX 15-seconds from me before my finger is on the "scan" button. Not only are their voices (especially Ron's) absolutely unlistenable but their delivery style is amateurish and the content of their show is not at all a fit for KIRO.

TBTL is another lost cause. The topics they blather on about are more fitting for a young male audience focussed morning show. But their delivery is more fitting for a jazz station. It will never ever work. Never. Very bad.

Phil Hendrie's old show was a one-joke exercise in boring-ness. I haven't caught the new show. Doubt I'll bother.

Do you mean to tell me that there isn't another live human being in the whole Seattle market who could better fill some of these time slots at KIRO? This is a very liberal/progressive town. Can't we have a single liberal/progressive talk show that is listenable? The best we've got is Rachel Maddow on KPTK and of course she isn't local. We have nothing local at all outside of Dave Ross (who's on at a stupid time where I can't listen.) We don't need somebody strident and so liberal that they are desperately polarizing but, seriously, how can we not have one truly local liberal station in SEATTLE?? Where is Erin Hart when you need her?

GREAT comments, Carl had the best show on the weekends. Carl as you may know fills in on KTLK-A L.A. and KKZN-A Denver.

Lifestyle talk doesn't sell well in Seattle. It's been tried w/o success on KIRO under Clendening/Preidmore/Beck, and on KOMO under Duckworth (remember Scoot and others?). It's a market of highly educated professionals who prefer issues oriented talk radio, just like San Francisco with KGO, KSFO, etc.
