Don't Look Back WVIM Something's Gaining on You

Blytheville's KHLS has a shaky signal from 66 miles away, but the tight, hits heavy play list orchestrated by Keith Michaels is making a mark. For the first time they're knocking out a 1.0 share 12+ in Memphis, just behind the number 2 country WVIM "The Rebel" , which has a 1.1. Good radio still draws listeners!

That's a pretty good haul. Can you get it half way decent on a car radio?

When I lived in Memphis a few years ago, I could never pick up KHLS. I can't understand how it keeps showing up in the ARBs. Diary confusion perhaps?

Those ratings in Memphis will certainly get you that Chateau you've always wanted in Monaco.

Before the corporatization of the Rebel, back when we had control of the music rather than someone else, we played things people hadn't heard on the radio for years, if ever! Took chances on artists that REALLY paid off for the station, and the Rebel was a truly unique and fun place. I will say that while another station may play about the same now, when Tripp was programming music there was no one who could touch the Rebel's playlist.

That's true... moving back to WKBQ, well apparently they're not included in the arbitron ratings for the memphis market...i'm not sure why, i mean...you can pick them up fairly well in millington...arlington...bartlett and lakeland. those are all part of shelby county... i don't know, maybe it's because the station's in tipton county.

Maybe... no one with a diary mentioned listening to them?

At 100,000 watts Khls puts a pretty good signal into five states. I have no trouble picking the station up in downtown Memphis.

I would be EXTREMELY surprised if the owner of the Rebel considered a format flip. Corporatization's brought it down and it might need to change, but in my opinion if they'd change the music back it'd be alright and climb back up. Small as it was and is, KIX knew we were there. The fun left that place a couple months back.

The other day I heard them mention their "listener of the day."

According to the numbers, maybe we should take that phrase literally.

That's cold man...

I DO so enjoy "That 70's Show", mostly because I lived it...But, one of my favorite phrases from the dialogue is:

"BURN!"

(yes, that was kinda cold-but funny) ;D

Now Tim Jones is gone. Not from the website yet. Still there.

?

Why isn't this station working?

It WAS for what it is before the new owner decided to make it Kix 106 light by hiring a consultant. When the music was programmed locally the place was on fire..in a good way. all me bitter or whatever, but you can look at the arbs and see pretty much when it was taken over and when it nosedived at the same time.
