Don't Mind The Maggots

Looks like tough times in the Big Apple for the two pinheads who do morning drive on Buffalo's WEDG. The Buffalo Fall book arrives some time next week and Shredd and Ragan will probably be high-fiving each other and laughing at Farid's Folly. O&A may be making more than 90% of the radio people in Buffalo, but their show appeals primarily to 18-34 year old male riff-raff who think busting on gays, minorities and cripples is side-splitting.

Pathetic losers.

Would Those Be Corporate Maggots?

Are you implying that it is possible to underestimate the taste of the American Public?

Actually, I expect O&A to have respectable numbers in Shredd & Ragan's old spot simply because there is no alternative for that audience. Do you really think that they'd switch to Janet & Pickle talking about "Desperate Housewives"? Maybe Norton & Lederman will grab a few, but most of the listeners will stay with The Edge.

I also expect Shredd & Ragan to add nicely to the PM Drive numbers. In fact, they could shake up the market among male listeners.

Of course, ratings are only part of the equation. What will O&A do to revenue? How many commercial avails is Citadel giving up to carry them? I don't see them getting a better rate for Dopie & Agony than they got for Shredd & Ragan, so they'd better be a lot cheaper, and they'd better not alienate too many advertisers if this move is to make economic sense. I do expect Shredd & Ragan to improve PM drive revenues, but will that make up for the salary difference between them and Bull?

Meanwhile, O&A have a daily forum to promote satellite radio. Altogether, I'd say that the move to replace Shredd & Ragan in the morning is somewhat short of "brilliant".
