This is what happens when you put thin-skinned radio suits with large egos together with a bunch of lawyers.
And, interestingly enough, the trade publications and the so-called "mainstream media" have ignored it.
A guy who calls himself Spocko thinks the hosts of ABC's KSFO, San Francisco practice "hate speech"
He posted some audio clips on his website to illustrate and prove his point.
His greater "crime" in ABC's view: He also played the clips for some KSFO advertisers who pulled their spots.
ABC lawyers went after his ISP. They caved and pulled the plug on his site.
There is some discussion of this on the San Francisco Board: KSFO (Sussman/Morgan et al. Hate Speech).
A few blogs and news sites have picked up the story: Google News
ABC schiesters are screaming copyright violation. Spocko claims "fair use" and some observers say he's right. But ABC has deep pockets and high-priced law firms and they can litigate the guy into oblivion.
The Huffington Post is one of the sites with an article on this. Their story includes a list of KSFO advertisers. Guess what? Some of the same companies currently advertising on KSFO are also on ABC's list of advertisers who refuse to allow their network spots on stations which programming from Air America Radio. Check it out. The ABC line was these advertisers don't want to be associated with any controversial programming. It appears there is controversial programming and then there's controversial programming. Maybe controversial programming isn't controversial if the boss likes it.
