Dothan Arbitron

Congratulations to WOOF FM for being Number 1 again! If memory serves me correctly, that's 11 books in a row!

Dothan, of all markets, I'd expect Country to be #1... guess there's just so much competition that no single Country station can win. WOOF-FM has no real competition that I can think of.

Those country stations have to keep staff around long enough for listeners to decide if they like it. And Mix96.9 is Woof's competition.

Oops. I forgot that one company had purchased 75% of the radio stations in the Dothan area including (all?) the 100kw Country stations so they flipped 96.9 to AC.

How well the 96.9 do compared to WOOF?

12+ WTVY nearly topped WOOF (missed by a half a point). WTVY beat WOOF in a number of key demos under 64... such as 18-49. In some key male demos WOOF fell out of the top 12. WTVY also beat WOOF in AQH and CUME in the TSA. About time for this market to become competitive.

The same way you [accurately] know WDJR is in 7th place. BTW: Trending up nicely in all the typical AC demos.

-quite surprised at ele's posting of numbers. -WOOF has long been known for keeping all numbers quiet and to themselves -I find it hard to believe that someone at that station would say something about any actual Arbitron numbers.

Hello? Anybody? It got quiet pretty quickly. If WOOF took the pork chop from around it's neck, no one would play with them anymore.

I would be indebted to anyone who would give me some idea how the WBBK, WJRL, WECB group did... I used to consult a station in that group prior to the LMA, so it would be nice to see what has happened since.

Check with Ele. he/She is a fountain of Arbitron data. [email protected]

GET REAL “DUDE” I THOUGHT YOU WOULD HAVE SAID LIKE “POT” “ROAST” “DUDE” ;D

This is funny !!!!

Seems WTVY cashed in on serving up some pot roast of its own to get playmates.

Going mainly by memory. WESP had impressive gains. WBBK no change. WECB up. WJRL was the only one that went down (just a bit). Info is available via local/regional ad agencies.

Ratings, ratings, ......... the only ones that really matter are the bank deposit ratings.
Sell by the ratings and eventually you starve by them.
Hasn't tvy almost always had the biggest cume? Remember a station that used to have a huge turnover...very large cume...anywhere from 1 to 4 (5 a few times) aqh but won the afore mentioned bd rating consistently.
Obviously don't see financials but feel very confident in congratulating WOOF on the "book" win and more importantly bd win!

Has any station ever given WTVY and/or WOOF a run for their money? It seems like one of those two stations has been on top ever since FM overtook AM.

that'd be affirmative poledo.
Once upon a time on a wave length separated by more than time,
there was a little ole dj booth at 100 n main
in the town of the bug.
Though they rarely beat the heritage country in ratings
they did challenge the ratings lead
and they did win the deposit rating consistently.
Then came the days of false magic and
they QUIT ANSWERING THE PHONES.

If any of you guys want to challenge and then overtake WOOF the first discussion you must win is with your owners/manager a) live jocks in studio at least 18hrs a day that answer the phones/take requests (play them or not). All the other steps won't matter until this is done first. Most of you jocks realize and know this.... all of you sales people need to realize this. It isn't brain surgery, never has been but if your listeners don't "take possession" of your station (you're MY radio station) then there is no difference in satellite radio and local radio.
