Dothan Book Ending

We're one week from the fall book ending and was curious whether anyone is daring enough to speculate on the results. Not that we'll ever know since Arb doesn't sell enough in the market anymore to release the numbers where we'll be able to see them but we can guess anyway. My guess for the vanity (12+) is:

W(forgot, the new talker at 93.7)

For the money demo (25-54) I'll guess:

I won't disagree with you Dennis but I think that you are hamstrung by budget constraints dictated from above (or in this case from the South) and the fact that the boards I see up about 95 are all about the out-of-towners that do the morning show instead of featuring the local talent which, IMHO, is better than R&Blubber every dreamed they could be. Your group has two class C's that by mine and Dthn Mon's guesses will be top 4 stations (top fives in your est) but they don't bill the same as they rate, therefore the reason for the "limp" that'll keep you out of first place.

Thank you DR, had a senior moment there. Well, today is the day before the end of the period. I wonder who will make moves with staff and/or programming and/or formats before the book comes back? Bet there will be big moves based on the retracting revenues. It is interesting that the Tribune Co. which went private last year(?) filed bankruptcy papers yesterday. True, they are mostly paper and tv but media non the less. I don't think they'll be the only ones to try and restructure with the help of the courts but I also don't think many will do 11 first, I think many will go straight to 7 and try to just walk away. I just hope their attorneys don't trip on my little camp sight here on the courthouse steps............ :-*.
 
Hey guys .. I'm not in your market but like to surf the boards from time to time .. what's going on in the Dothan market .. thought the Magic Company had a lock on that market .. WTVY .. WKMX .. WBBK .. WJRL .. guess when you are on the outside looking in things can appear to be different. It was my understadning the Magic boys kind of ruled Dothan and Panama City? The weather must be better there than up here in the frozen north. Did wonder why the urban numbers were not higher .. seems the market is like 21% Black?

Hello Moonshine.....

Since most of the stations around this area do not subscribe to Arbitron, it's kind of sketchy.....The word on the street is that WTVY has had a major downturn, but I'm not sure about the other Magic stations. The Radio People, I think, is enjoying an upswing for all their stations, WDJR (Rolling along nicely) WESP (getting more listeners everyday) and especially, the News Talk 105.3 is making a mark. I think all their stations are in the top 5 with WOOF having steady ratings, possibly back in the top slot. The new 93.7 with the Ex TVY staff had a good book, but not sure where they placed.....That's what I have heard....If anyone has more info or needs to refute my findings, please do......

I looked at the 12+ numbers listed in Radio and Records and there was no listing for WOOF .. that's basically why i was asking .. think I had heard half the TVY staff had left .. don't they use non competes in the southern markets? I had read somewhere there was some kind of management shakeup in the market also .. oh well .. I am light years away from you guys .. just like to keep up. Is the weather nice there yet .. we had snow and really cold blast last night and looking for gloomy wx for the weekend.

Hey moony, thank goodness the weather is good, sunny, 80, 60 overnight. It much more bearable on the courthouse steps now (ref other posts). To follow your thoughts on Magic's lock, remember from your reading of fantasy novels that magic locks are only fastened with smoke and mirrors, also that very few magicians have anything original but usually mock other magicians. In this case the leads they followed were Cheap Channel and Crumulus and their smoke doesn't rise anymore and their mirrors have all lost their glaze and cracked. In referencing the staff that left, check back to a thread on this board that ran in Aug08(?) about their leaving magic for the Big Dog (Radio People) and the predictions made.

BTW, the bite victim isn't healing by any means yet but the dog's nose is warming just as our weather. :( Sometimes being right really isn't any fun, I'm beginning to understand why histories seerers were always so glum.

ROTFLMFAO-Tragic is FAR from having a lock on the market. TVY is living up to its rep as the anchor station..as they’ve sunk to the bottom.

Buzz is that it’s basically a two station market WOOF and DJR….and personally, Jess has ESP sounding hella good. By the full breaks, if WOOF hasn’t been sold out yesterday and today, I’d be amazed. Meanwhile your friends at Tragic are lucky to have a value added mention and a PI in drive. Too bad those “Ad Council” spots don’t pay, eh?

As far as the wx, Stewy is correct. It’s sunny, and the bank said 80 degrees.

Damn. That makes twice I’ve agreed with Stewie on these boards. It MUST be the heat….
 
Ditto '76 on Jess & ESP. Best rock station I have heard in quite sometime.

What is bizarre to me is that Magic is letting the anchor "TVY" sink deeper and deeper while
being obsessive with getting a 2 share for Star. Imaginary conversation - KVD says - "Why worry about
the station that used to be our biggest money maker, when I can crush (in my dreams) WOOF with Star".
Obviously MONEY doesn't matter to the Magic folks.
Since KMX was the best of the Magic stations in the ratings, maybe their programmer should be calling
the shots on all their stations.

Forget my bizarre comment earlier. It is just Trajic
