Dothan Changes

You are so right Joker! When the late FREAK and I used to visit Dothan on weekends, wherever we went we always had a bunch of listeners following us. This is back when Grand Central Station, Rev's Place, The Beach, The Stardust, Club Darkside and Stray Cats were all making Downtown Dothan jump! If 93.7 were to flip to an Active Rock, or even an "Everything That Rocks" like here 933 KDKB and with ROCK 1025 playing Classic Rock. That would be a pretty good combo with The Big Dog! Again, I would throw in all of old YODA imaging from 97X. That would be a lot of fun. Hey, David and Brett, lets make that happen! LOL!

Zuzu, don't hold your breath or you'll turn blue and pass out. Been there, did that, literally threw away the t-shirts. I can't speak for TD but I am quite happy sitting here on the concrete steps though they do get kind of cold this time of the year. Night before last I forgot to unroll the plastic and when I awoke yesterday I was virtually frozen to the step and covered with the first frost of the year. But hey, I've been through worse which is why I think zuzu should continue a regular pace of breathing.

Speaking of the steps, Citidel, Next, soon Clear Ch and Cumulus .........pickings are starting to look good from here! I think this may be my last winter here at the front of the court house.

I wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas. I ask each of you (and myself) to follow the example of love given us by Jesus Christ and quite possibly best exhibited over the years in mkt192 by Ken Carlisle. Love you Sir, get well soon because we need your example.

Did they not just restaff and put a new General Manager in place in Dothan? I know they have a lot to do and revenues must be at their lowest ebb in history so am not sure what any GM can do without the tools to make the grade. Don McCoy is on the case and I am sure there will be some changes and in this case I think change will bring about a rebirth of the stations.

Hasn't Don been on the case the case the whole time?

So what's your take on Tragic will either be sold or reformatted and programmed to win! Think they must remember the stations could win again but it will not happen with no promotion and no spark at the head to become the driving force on the road to winning.

As DM always quotes PT Barnum..."A Sucker is born every minute".....I would say the safest thing for him to do is Sell. He had the best STAFF...got rid of them....had THE best station (KMX)...check the ratings...and I don't need to go on....Sell them Don!!!

Holly you may be correct! The damage may be such that Don nor anybody else can rebuild. That listening audience if forgiving but when they are slapped in the face time and time again they tend to bolt. Think we've seen that in the ratings over the past few books. Time will tell.

Make Mr. McCoy an offer holly and moonshine. Oh, that's right, you can't. Kind of sucks that he has millions and you don't, doesn't it.

They may have darkman, they may have. As I read the FCC filings it is not Don's call to sell or not but Mr. Durden's. This same senerio has played (as is playing) out at Next, Citidel, CC, etc. Magic is just a smaller version of them. All seem to be scratching and clawing to keep from losing 70, 80 90 and even 99% of what they have invested but I've yet to see any succeed. BTW, Santa does visit you if you are seated on the Court House steps. ;D

You may be rigt, Stewy and you may be wrong. Either way, if that's the case, make an offer to him. It's not that complicated. Stewy, I know you an d I like you, but there's a word for people like you, schadenfreude. And it's sad. But what's really sad is that you took the time to read the FCC filings to find out about Mr. Durdin. Get a life, dog. Everybody knows Mr. McCoy fired you. Get over it. It's time. You're rotting with bitterness. Time to move on, dog. And for the love of God, please retire the "court house steps" line. It was funny and clever the first time, but not the 651st time. You're the radio genius, be creative dude. Or is that the reason Mr. McCoy fired you, because you're a one line cowboy. Just sayin', dog. It's all good. Peace, brother.

I totally agree with you on the usage of "courthouse steps" not being funny anymore. But for the record what's up with the use of "dog" so much? Did Randy Jackson start posting here?

Majic Broadcasting equals Broken Record skipping over and over again.

Wow darkman, not sure where you got your info but that's about as wrong as it could be. Additionally, thank you very much for the concern and advice but my life is very good and I hope that yours is as good or even better! As for the "steps", I do agree that is tired but I can think of nothing more creative that is as appropriate for the present situation in the industry...........unless maybe I start signing off posts, "at the flea market awaiting the next set of licenses to hit the table".

Anyway, doubt I'll have a chance to post again before the New Year so I wish everyone a good one! Heard AP this morning talking about the reality show pilot being readied for sale, good luck and I hope that you have multiple buyers that drive up the price for you!

The OLD MAN just wants to say "THANK YOU" to all, especially Stewy. for always giving me the 411 on what is happening in Dothan! I miss you all and I hope I will be visiting sometime in 2010! If any of you ever in Arizona, look me up! HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!

Glad to enlighten Sir. Though I'm seriously considering a resolution for 2010 that other than congrats or condolences absolutely no R-I posts. With the civic budget cuts wireless here on the court hous .......I mean ......on the flea market grounds is becoming spotty at best. That reads rather well actually so until 2011 (maybe even not then) I bid you all goodbye. May your towers stand straight and the lights never burn out.

I think whoever invited the words "budget cuts" should be FLOGGED and STONED at the Houston Country Farm Center! If anyone ever puts on another ROCK station in or around DOthan or Panama City, Holla! I would love to head back to the "Circle City". Stewy, you can't leave like this! Although I understand!

As always Jedi Master you speak the truth whoever came up with budget cut should have to sit in "yellow mama" with the juice all the way up.

Well Stewy I hate to see you leave because I enjoy reading your post since I'm pretty much out of Radio but I don't blame you.

I hope everyone has a great new year and I hope everybody who is out of a gig finds one soon.
