Dothan Predictions

Spring book will be out in a couple of weeks. Any predictions? Get em in now, boys (and girls). Whose movin' up, whose movin' down? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say WOOF is #1!

Prediction: One of the three 100,000-watt country stations will be in the top 2. Also, people will get fired. Veins will pop out of faces. Amie will get blamed for kissing Ronnie Gilley's ass. Stewy will chime in, cars will drive in circles as life resumes in market 190

I know, I just went out on a big limb...

I predict that people will have that twisty feeling in their stomach when they consider posting something here. You know...."If I post something, will it come back to bite me, like karma?".

I think that the book will be fine. I hope that it will be good enough so that people will continue to keep their jobs and bring great music, personality and commentary to the wiregrass.

I know this is kind of milquetoast, but I can't say more.....have to go....my stomach is getting kinda tight.

Darkman why don't you start it off? Tell us yours since you are so interested.

Wow, str8forward, who peed in your cornflakes? Just trying to have a little fun discussion before ratings come out. BTW, I did start it off, jackass. Is that str8forward enough for you?

Thanks DR, just draw me right into the line of fire. Hope there's room on the limb though I'll not go as far as did you, maybe. I think the winner will be of canine origin though which one of the pack is the alpha will be determined by book placement. A way to gauge is by how well weevil does, it they do well the coffee, geneva, dale were heavier. Good luck to all and win or not, remember that they only survey about 3-4 out of every thousand people(?), don't beat yourself up or dent your back patting it. In a written/condensed market it is truly a crap shoot.

LOL, I did sound a little snippy I didn't mean to be. I was really wanting you to elaborate, go a little deeper than the #1 spot. WOOF is always somewhere around at the top. That's an easy one. I am with Stewy. 600 return diaries is no correct sample. Up, down, or even it's all in the hands of diary placement and returns.

Wow. I want to cry.

Stewy, that was very "un-stewy" of you. Why are you trying to rationalize Arbitron ratings when they are a great source of, well everything in this business.

I do, however, agree with you on book placement. Whomever wins Geneva county wins. Period.

Str8forward, my apologies. I thought you were trying to be a smarta$$. Actually I had you confused with another poster on here who's always a know-it-all jacka$$ who has a very high opinion of themselves, but I digress. I have no idea how the book will turn out, but it's always fun to speculate. I'm sure WOOF, DJR and KMX will be the top three but there may be a little movement up or down between the actual numbers. WTVY seems to be sounding better and better. It wouldn't surprise me to see it pass USD, if not this book, the Fall book. BBK is sounding good but it may be a book away from making a dent in ZHT or challenging Wilson's stations. ESP is sounding good but it may be a book away from meaningful movement. JRL is now competing against WOOF Sports. Star should see a bump this book. Where am I wrong?

Hello....somebody called down the thunder?

Here goes: (not in ranking order)

WOOF EVEN Would be UP, but for influx of AC type product from WLDA & WESP snipping away
WDJR DOWN Change in morning show host & competition from much improved TVY
WTVY UP Improved and will continue to gain
WKMX DOWN lackadaisical
WUSD EVEN Would have been UP, but TVY stole their gains
WESP DOWN Shocker to core classic rock audience. Potentials can hear same on WLDA
WLDA UP Discovery
WBBK UP Sounding better
WJRL DOWN WOOF AM 100.1 translator
WOOF AM UP WOOF AM 100.1 translator

Does Jack Gale still own it? He was a tremendously popular dj back in the heyday of top 40, early on in Baltimore, and later at WAYS in Charlotte. I had heard he came out of retirement and put the station on the air a few years ago.

lol @ the watcher

I quit worrying about the book a very long time ago. I only worry about how I feel about our station
when the ratings period is over. No one stomped this past book. Will it look like that in Arbitron?

hahaha...who knows. I like my chances betting against the casino than counting on Arbitron
