What will happen with Kickin 93.7?

TRP used it in a double team with DJR hoping to squash TVY. If that goal is achieved yet Kickin under performs
what will TRP do with it? It just doesn't seem likely TRP will continue to have two Country stations
in the fold.
Maybe flip it to CHR? AC? Move it to Enterprise and slide into the slot vacated by KMX?
With Misty at the helm? She has CHR experience. What do you think? Too unlikely?
 
Not too unlikely, I think it's inevitable. But the implications of Misty moving from country to another format if the Big Dog is tops in the book, I wonder. Of course there is deposed (by her own choice) royalty that would love (and is probably striving for) her old throne. Maybe the self exiled will instead leave the market to be on a reality show, she mentioned on air today that she'd like to be a contestant on one that is more cerebral or physical (not gross, said she'd hurl if on Fear Factor)....she didn't mention Smarter Than a Fifth Grader but did mention Deal or No Deal and Survivor. As Wattcher alludes, she is already competing on a version of MKT 192 Survivor.

Bones may begin to be thrown soon across the pavement. What was that poem? Oh yeah, "An Elegy On The Death Of A Mad Dog".

I don't think so. Radio People applied yesterday to change the "City of License" of Kickin (WUSD)
from Geneva to Hartford.
This will bring Kickin's Dothan Studio into compliance with the "Main Studio Rule" "25 mile clause"
Why do that if you are going to move it to Enterprise.

This book won't reveal much for TRP since it is a two book average. WUSD will be averaged with WRJM's Spring '08 numbers, WDBT's numbers will be an average of the news-talk format from Fall with last Spring's Classic Country numbers. Maybe someone who knows the formula can break down the Fall only numbers.

Unless someone else bought the book, Magic is the only one that will have the capability. They just might make public the USD numbers.......couldn't think of why.
 
This is a very amusing thread. Under your elaborate scheme Misty would move to Enterprise and do CHR, The Pollard and KC gang would come do the Big Dog....hmm, where does that leave me? Fired I suppose?

While stranger things have happened it would seem that only a labotomized idiot would take the two orchestrators of an apparently succesful Big Dog and move one to a new format and let the other on go.
(And understand I am in no way taunting success, I am simply saying that using the original posters theory that would be the circumstances....a very successful Big Dog for all of these changes to take place)

I need to drop more acid or something cause I am just simply not capable of such wild imaginations.

Good luck to everyone who busted their asses in the ratings period to win. It is a labor of love and the reward of placing well is very satisfying if you are fotunate enough to have things go your way with Arbitron.

Sommers or someone equally capable to mornings with you. Use Misty to head up an attack
on another Majic station. As I said, she does have CHR experience.

Please read my interspersed comments (TW:) above and it will become clear these are indeed the
ravings of a mad man.
 
And while I am raving:

I find it highly unethical and deceptive that Arbitron would post ratings (Dothan Fall 08)
that only include subscribing stations and out of market stations with a small disclaimer
saying only subscribers listed.
On first look it appears the other stations didn't show up and the subscribing stations
are the top stations in the market.
An Embargo is more appropriate.

I guess they are just pissed that some people don't want to purchase their OVER PRICED
LOW SAMPLE RATE survey.

Whew...I feel better now
 
Is someone able to (legally) post the ranking of all of the stations (12+) without the share? I'm always curious to see how stations near the Golden Peanut are performing.

Brett - Lobotomized idiot, nice phrase. I agree with you but if that decision were made it sure wouldn't be the only one in this market made with such wonderful logic.

Wattcher, CHR is not a profit center in this market, it's been proven over and over and over. Oh yes, agree on your above comments on Arb.

KVD - one question for you sir, since you have at your fingertips the programmers package, who did better TVY or USD ..... and, what was the general demo make up of USD? I understand if you cannot respond.

WTVY is back where it was before Amie started the morning show. (Ratings) (Revenue is lower) TRP has everything just the way they want it. They have the country shares, they have squashed WTVY and will continue to do so. Sales are great on USD as well, no one will blow that up. Time for a format change on WTVY. Call it WDHS...dead horse....

It's obvious that Amie is not a team player for TRP.
Sales doesn't sound as great compared to others in this market maybe you should look across the parking lot , but Trade is greater on USD. I hear that there will be more legal counseling trade in the near future on behalf of Amie.

Do have the facts to back up your claims? If so PLEASE share inquring minds want to know! And just because Amie is over at USD (LOL LOL still reminds me the the word USeD-like the tower, the signal, the staff) is not fact enough, so please take Amie off the little pedalstool you placed her on until you can share the facts.

Plus, I'm not sure if the Wal-Mart pricing structure works on radio. Even Sam Walton said just because you sell toothpaste for 25 cents a tube and you're selling more than anybody, you stilll not making profit on it. So just because USD is selling $5 a hollar, they would have to sell about 200 times more than TVY.

attackpoodle, am I right to assume that you and hubby are talking to Mr. Durden about being two of the three (out of the overall 5) people on the new Magic Management Board that I read about? (See All Access, Monday News, 2/2/9)
 
If any of the groups in Dothan have Maximizer or Tapscan, they can pull reports that only give the Fall 08 numbers.

I am not going to comment on the Dothan book or personalities....................I will let the locals to Dothan do that......they seem to be doing a great job ;)
