Dothan

Can anyone give me an overview of Dothan? What's there radio, what do you think is needed?

You funny guy, poledo! You make me laugh!!

And thanks for the post, trucker - I was beginning to wonder if another Dothan thread would ever pop up here. Now...if we could just get some good drama cookin'!

Okay, try this. Anyone hear that WOOF-FM is changing its format to News-Talk 99.9 and pairing up Amie Pollard and Connor Vernon as the new Morning Team?

I'd ask how this affects Q100 but the crashing together of two different running jokes from two different forums might cause a singularity and end the universe.

Didn't Q-100 change their name to Journey? Or did Cumulus wise up and change it back to the name that's on bumper stickers and stop/street signs for 100 miles in every direction?

And if you were referring to the old 100.5 in Atlanta, they moved that baby to their co-owned 100kw 99.7 (RIP 99X Atlanta). Do they still call it the CHR Q-100? Someone must have forgotten that radios don't come with dials anymore. Even Gainesville's Rock 104 finally changed their name to Gator Country 103.7... about a decade too late. Mobile's G-100 changed their name to Lite Mix 99.9 way back in the 1980's. They were smart enough to see the future of radio receivers!

I think it's time to start email bombing radio stations that round their channel numbers up instead of using the actual frequency. Send them a bunch of emails saying that you think you would enjoy their station but it doesn't show up on your radio dials. Ask them what's wrong or if they are having technical problems that may get fixed soon.

I'm to worn out to use Google today. Thank god for the spell checker or I wouldn't be able to type this afternoon.

End of post. Time to go to the loo and catch up on the LSU - Arkansas game. Not to worried about LSU but you won't find me on this board tomorrow afternoon during the Iron Bowl. War Eagle! Bama, You killed our trees, so we will start getting our revenge by knocking you out of the BCS national championship game. Only a fool would bet money on the Iron Bowl.

JMO, this board needs the final chapter in the Book of Magic but headland radio seems to have gone under ground.

You got it, I was referring to the old Q100 gag on the Atlanta board. :)

And yes, they are still Q100 with only a tiny mention of "99.7" on their website. Crazy but I guess the branding was stronger than dial position recognition. With PPM it really doesn't matter what the station calls itself or where it is, as long as the device can hear it and record the data.

So...there wasn't a changing of hands of a few stations there in the last couple of weeks? I heard TRP acquired a few and ditched a few. Are I wrong?

Magic has a 350,000.00 problem on it's hands I to Dothan .. somebody was STUPID enlightened to say they were the most listened to station ..

Ah yes.

One sad day many moons ago the Queen was lured from her throne by a competing People. With thoughts of grandeur she tried to rule her new realm, but it was not to be, for she failed completely in her new task and one day they rose up and disposed of her.

As for her former kingdom, a Kingdom of Magic so they called it. They would spend many a moon wandering through the wilderness. The magical kingdom would have some success and some failures...mostly failures, but they were a stubborn lot an continued to forge ahead with the power of ignorance and incompetence at their backs. This was so for a time, all seemed as though it would go on as it always had in perpetual mediocrity.

But one fine day a competing people, the very same people who had so thoroughly disposed of the Magical Kingdoms former Sovereign, came a calling, saying they wanted to now take the Magical Kingdom for themselves. Of course this could not be done, no one people could control two realms. But these competing people were a determined lot, and so they performed a little magic themselves.

To the bewilderment of all the people of the earth, these People seemingly created an ally out of thin air to help them conquer and divide the Magical Kingdom. Of course these People have no connections to this ally that they created.

And so it is to this day, the competing People and their ally sit and wait for the day that they take the reins of the Magical Kingdom and can "divide it" among-st themselves.

Woe be unto the Magical Kingdom for its days appeared numbered. And woe be unto the people whom the Kingdom currently "serves" for little do they know that monopoly is in their midst.

-The Book of Magic

Stewy you seem to be in the know as it relates to the Magic stations .. what is really going on? Know they made some huge mistakes when they ruled the market and now are just there! What created this problem? Don McCoy is not stupid so it must have been some of his "partners", maybe the same ones that helped him buy the LA station.

nuff, all that I'll say is that Don McCoy got out of Magic some time ago by buying the PC group out of the bunch with cash and giving up stock in rest .....as I understand it by reading the FCC legals from that time.

I happened to be driving through Dothan on Wednesday morning on my way to Atlanta for a meeting. As usual, I was punching around listening to see what everyone was doing......until I got to 95.5 and my radio remained there until they faded out just south of Columbus......the two guys doing the morning show Broadway and Bud (or Butt), were talking about the magical holiday changes that are taking place.....it was GREAT radio....parody songs, and a bunch of inside jokes purely for the broadcasters listening.....the general public probably only got about 20% of them....the rest went right over their head.....thanks for an entertaining ride from Dothan to Columbus !!

I always try to play only to folks in the business when I'm on the air. To heck with the 99.99% of regular listeners - if I can get a chuckle out of an industry person with inside humor, my day is complete. Might be why I spend so much time unemployed....
