Double DX Tests in Kentucky early Sunday morning 3/26

These stations also tested in April of last year, but WWKY-990 and WMST-1150 in Kentucky will be back again for two hours of testing between 0400-0600 UTC early Sunday morning, March 26th. 12-2AM ET, 9-11PM PT. They will be on full day power (990 - 1KW, 1150 - 2.5KW) with various sweeps, morse code, and other classic DX test material.
Thanks to the guys at Gateway Radio Works, plus Paul Walker and Les Rayburn of the CPC for making this happen. I'll be trying for these two, especially the 990 as I don't have HD hash in the way, unlike 1150khz.

Good news there, Crain! A grammar school buddy eMailed me the bumf just before. Since he's living in Boston now, he probably will have quite a bit of antennae rigging to hear the 1150 TEST. WCOP, or whatever they are now, is a genuine local there.
Here, it's better ; only WDEL from Del and other 1150 grumblers come in at night.
And 990's Philly station has for decades been sending all of their 10,000 nighttime wattage SE into Atlantic City and Bermuda to protect CBW in Manitoba. Plus, Radio-Locator says the two TESTing stations are omni. That should work!
Will be in front of the GE SR 2. Thanks for the tip, and to Paul Walker and Les Rayburn once more!

CBW is usually a beast here on 990. 1150 less so, but WHBY has become fairly reliable. I'll try to give both channels a shot.

Both stations were logged before, but I will try for them tonight. Thanks to all involved with arranging the tests.

Not even :15 minutes into the duet here and both were fairly easy pickings.
I've been switching back and forth between the two. 1150 had fast code IDs and some pure tone. 990 had fast code IDs and then shreiks/sweeps.
I figure that the marimba music on 1150 shortly upon re-tune in to 1150 was WMST, because that segment ended utterly and went back into tones.
Have heard no voice yet on either. Will hang around for quite the while to maybe get some voice IDs.

1150 mostly has KAGO Klamath Falls and something buried underneath, definitely not the WMST test.
990 is a mix of XECL and KATD right now. The semi-Au conditions are not helping the cause. For example, Saskatchewan is still missing on 540, just XESURF. KCHJ-1010 Delano CA mixed with KIQI and almost no sign of CBR.

Both test easily heard here in Wood Dale, Illinois.

1150 WMST very good with tones , code IDs, voice IDs
990 WWKY fair to good, but some slop from WMVP

@CADXER
Yessir ; 1150 was the louder one here too, in east-central PA. But 1150 had more stations yowling along with them.
There's no S-meter on the GE SR 2, but I thought the WWKY signal, though weaker than 1150's, stood alone atop the 990 murmur. Heck, a pal and I once were DXing some 60 miles north of here on a car radio and couldn't hear 990 Philly. Atop 990 was WNOX Knoxville.
Very well-done TEST, Les Rayburn, More Some Radio Guy and the CPC. Perhaps, I hope, some of the posters here to the west caught those piercing shreik-swoops and those submarine all-hands-report tones.
And was that marimba solo at 10 or so minutes into it all part of the test?
And I heard a song, peculiar to both stations, by a female singer or an early Bob Dylan , lol. If indeed it was part of the dual test, perhaps those undecided here can affix a reception approximation.

DFW, Texas -- Sangean ATS-909X

Heard DX Test for 1150-WMST Mt. Sterling, KY. Sweep tones weak, but clear, at 23:18 CDT under KSAL with WJBO nulled. Heard Morse Code at 23:26 CDT. No luck on 990-WWKY test. Local 990-KFCD sits between me and Kentucky, directionally. Nulling KFCD yielded only XET.

Thanks to the committee for the work that goes into arranging these tests!

I only took one pass at these two, but didn't hear either. Then I fell asleep. Despite auroral conditions, CBW and WHBY were on top.
Maybe if I had stayed awake.......
