Can't say. Tom Davis has an affinity for eclectic Adult Alternative (2 stations) but also has News/Talk, Rock, Classic Hits and the like in his portfolio. He's made a go of two Class A's that only cover the shadow market of Williamsburg, Virginia. He got quite the buzz in the trades with his radio/local online-only "newspaper." Publicly, he stated he wants to expand that to his other markets. However, that has not happened at the Wilmington, NC stations. The success he had may be peculiar to the Williamsburg "market" and may not be easily duplicated in larger market areas. For example, it may be doable in Lexington, SC but not particularly successful as an effort Columbia Metro-wide because of entrenched competitors and a the amount of labor needed to adequately cover such a large area. In other words, it may be easy to leverage radio to build an online Lake Murray News competitor, but pissing in the wind to try to take on The State.
I do think we'll see Uncle Timmy selling Direct Buy memberships shortly.
