According to allaccess.... his gig is now open. (PD Gig at power)

Posted by: radiochick53- I read that Doug just got promoted. Along with programming Power, he also is the new PD at KKYX, and is voice tracking for Magic.

Not sure where you got your info but here's the word-

COX Top 40/Rhythmic KPWT (POWER 106.7)/SAN ANTONIO PD DOUG BENNETT is moving over to Country Legends KKYX-A, taking over for RANDY CHASE, who remains PD/afternnoons at Country KCYY (Y100). BENNETT will also serve as APD of KCYY and takes on middays at AC KSMG (MAGIC 105.3), replacing SAM DURAN who shifts to nights.

This leaves a great opening for a PD with Hip-Hop experience at KPWT. Send audio and resume to KPWT, Attn: Human Resources, 8122 Datapoint, Suite 500, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78229.

He trainwrecked something on the lines of like 4 formats and Cox promotes him???? Come on, what are these guys thinking?

Although I've never worked for Doug, I've actually heard mostly good things about him from those who have. It doesn't necessarily mean he's a great programmer, but I've always heard he's fair to his staff. I'm also not sure failing on 106.7 should count against anyone's record. When has that frequency ever been successful? I suspect many in San Antonio haven't tuned north of 105.3 since KBUC flipped to Spanish programming in 1987 or '88. K-Mix, remember, was so successful it went bankrupt in '91 or '92, and that was its first format (unless you count the time KBUC was at 106.3).

STEALINGyourAUDIENCEgirl - perhaps you can become the new power pd. after all you are a 10 year radio vet.

Needless to say I'm sure that opening is better than your board op job.

KBUC was at 107.3, I used to work there many many many moons ago. Just FYI

I could have sworn it was 106.3. However, since you've been there, you probably would know better than I do. Maybe you can give me a little history of when all the shifting happened? I know a friend of my parents listened to KBUC (and he had a bumper sticker for KIKN in Corpus Christi on his car), but my parents didn't like country and only listened when they were in his car. I'd been trying to find out about when KBUC moved and why but haven't had much luck. About the only place I know that has old Broadcasting and Cable Yearbooks and Broadcasting Magazines is the library at the University of Arkansas, and that doesn't do me much good since I live near St. Louis now!

It changed to Tejano about 10yrs ago and they moved from there old location on Houston St. to a building on Loop 410. And they changed the call letters also. They blew everybody out when they moved. There are still a few of us around but not to many. Hope that answers some of your question.

Well, let's get it right because my husband was one of the last PD's of K-BUC. First of all it was at 107.5 with Bruce Hathaway doing mornings. The studios were already moved from Houston street. The owner Tom Turner moved it to his new building on 410 and he later sold it and that's when Bruce Hathaway came in to do mornings, Ed Chandler became PD, Ron Houston was doing mid-days, Chandler afternoons and Micheal Clay was doing nights. It was sold sometime later and changed format to hispanic (Tejano) as it still is today at 107.5.
