Doug Hoerth -- 25 years!

Last week I enjoyed listening to Doug Hoerth for
the first time since before the IBM PC was introduced!
(This time I listened on the web, of course.)

Why?

That's because he started out here in Fort Lauderdale
in the 1970s on WFTL. I wish WFTL, which is now all
syndicated talk, had someone as good as Doug today.

Why am I mentioning this? Because his story is told
(albeit very briefly) in the South Florida Radio Pages'
November Radio News

25 years, many stations, same old stories. Be the Good Lord willin' and the creeks don't rise.

He's the only person I've ever heard who could use a piece of schtick from Dean Martin's old TV variety show from the late '60's, and make it work.

Imagine getting 25 years off of stealing a line from Johnny Cash!

JUst returned from a week-end trip to Pittsburgh. I got to hear Doug Hoerth and it don't get much better than that. Especially enjoyed his playing old jingles from WIBG and WMCA. He does a great Porky and BMR impression and the music is fantastic. Is this show only on WjAS (up and down the East Coastas he screams ) or is it in syndication and will it come to Tampa Bay, although I don't know who would carry it at the moment.
