Doug Kammerer leaving CBS 3

And he will apparently be the youngest chief meteorologist in all of Washington.

I guess this also means he will no longer do weather updates for CBS Radio stations in Philly.

Interesting. He was a up and coming star at NBC10, but they couldn't afford to keep him when CBS3 went after him. So how is it, NBC4 in DC was able to get him? Or perhaps its just about the chief meteorologist title, inwhich case ch10 should've demoted bowtie in a second.

When Kammerer first went to CBS3, he was sharing night duties with Kathy Orr.

After Maria LaRosa left for the Weather Channel, he was shifted into mornings, first newscast at 5 am.

I wonder if the new schedule prompted him to look? That probably means getting to the station no later than 4 am.

As the original poster noted, I am also sure that going back to do weather in his hometown might have had a little something to do with this decision.

...and also having the "lead" position too...he was much too talented to be the 2nd banana to anyone. In my opinion, much more talented than Kathy Orr too. It's Philly's loss and D.C's gain, I'm afraid...NOW, if Channel 3 would only give Rob Guarino a foot in the door...

They ought to change the URL for that story. Doug "Hammerer"? Are you kidding me?
