In a series of press releases over the past few days it's been confirmed that Doug McIntyre will soon be absent from New York radio.
- Friday, 12/9 was his last 5-6am local WABC show.
- Early next year Midnight Radio merges with Red Eye Radio and will be hosted by the MR hosts.
- Starting January 3rd, McIntyre returns to mornings on KABC with a female co-host.
I'll miss Doug McIntyre, as I believe many other listeners will. His knowledge of history, storytelling ability, sense of humor and willingness to look at issues from more that one perspective have made Red Eye Radio a unique and compelling show. Great bumper music too.
I hope this is at least partly his decision -- I can't blame him for wanting to work more normal hours!
My guess is that he makes the announcement tonight and takes the next week to say goodbye to the syndicated audience -- then Mark Germain hosts the show until the change takes place while McIntyre takes a well deserved two week vacation over the holidays.
