Douglas Shaw, who spent a good part of his life in radio, passed away over the weekend. No immediate word on cause of death. In 1998, Doug's heart stopped several times on afternoon, but was revived each time, with no doctor being able to diagnose the reason.
Doug Shaw worked at WSLC, Roanoke VA; WGOL, Lynchburg VA; WKDE, Altavista VA; KTKS, Versailles MO. He loved animals and worked for the Humane Association in Lynchburg, as did his wife, Crystal, when they moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2000. While in Nashville, he became a graphics artist, and dabbled in songwriting and photography.
I admired Doug as an on-air talent before meeting him briefly in 1984. We met again in 1986 and became friends. He was a kind, good-hearted individual, who touched a lot of lives in his own short life. He will be missed by many.
