Doug White on leave

NBC/10 announced that veteran anchor Doug White is now on medical leave, with cancer. White had unrelated health probelms in recent years. Good luck to Doug in treatment/recovery and we shall see if NBC comes through with some money to augment the shorthanded WJAR staff.

Hopefully, Doug White will be back soon.

He's one of the best news anchors in Providence.

When Providence mayor Buddy Cianci was convicted (the most recent time) a few years ago, I heard on a Boston TV station's noon newscast that a verdict was about to be handed down.

I switched to WJAR-10 and watched a couple of hours of their live coverage of the verdict. Doug White was anchoring, and he was supurb. He did an excellent job handling this breaking-news situation.

Get well soon, Doug!
