downeast maine gets another station

..so to speak, if their webstream is any indication, University of Maine Machias has launched their Class A station on 91.7, 100 watts at 22 meter's HAAT

I think this is a start of many upgrades to the U Maine college based stations. Maine Farmington and U Maine Presque Isle both have applications for Class A stations, an upgrade from their grandfathered Class D 10 watt stations they currently have. WMEB, Orono's college station has a huge upgrade to go from an A, 600 watts at 171 feet HAAT to a Class B1, 10kw and 130 ft HAAT

Don't forget the nation's Eastern-most radio station 10-watt WSHD FM 91.7 Eastport, run by Shead High School. Reportedly back on air now, according to the High School's Website.

WRMO 93.7 Millbridge "The Little Station that Could" continues to sound great from their 110 watt transmitter and new studios alongside Route 1 in Steuben. They hope to move the antenna and transmitter in the future, according to a Letter to the Editor from their manager, addressing the Change-of-City application, a couple weeks back in the weekly paper, DownEast Coastal Press.

I should add that the mentioned "City of Change" issue was in regards to Blueberry's application to the FCC to change the city of license of their CP for 101.1 from Machias to Gouldsboro.

Shucks, I was in Eastport this weekend and didn't even notice that the antenna was back up. Checked www.shead.org and noticed that there was a pic of the logo that adorns the wall in the radio room. Haven't seen that in a LONG time. Painted by the talented Tom McLaughlin when we moved the studio out of the very small closet out into the larger space. Spent a summer with painting, moving and rewiring. Great memories. Spent ALOT of time on air there. Would love to do an air-shift there again someday. Here is a link to a pic of the studio when it was in the closet http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1430434&l=f341acdd24&id=502893485
