Downtown - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

It's one of my favorite songs out right now.
First listen I knew this song was not going to work, it is too all over the place. Parts of it like the chorus are decent, but it is like someone making a stew who adds lots of good ingredients but all of them together it is over kill and it ends up tasting like crap.
Mack has no respect in the hip hop world, and right now hip hop, while getting a bit more love than the last few years, it is still out of favor with chr's core demos right now. It is funny, those in their mid 30s to 40s are more in love with hip hip than those under 30. So for Mack to get a hit it needs to be a very mainstream friendly hit, I think downtown was the right idea, it just didn't work, finished product is just too all over the place.
