DOX back on 106.7?

Tonight on my way back to North Jersey I put on 106.7 to hear Modern Rock DOX??......The DJ broadcasting from a bar in North Wildwood said that "The Pirate Station known as DOX is back".....Since it was a Sunday night I thought that maybe it was a specialty show but lost the signal too quick to give it a good listen......They did give a WFNE ID but never heard them say "Fun 106.7"......The WFNE website has a stream link for WDOX but I am not sure how long that has been up....Anyone know whats going on @ 106.7??.....Is DOX really back??

It is a smart move for 106.7 to become alternative again. The displaced JSE fans in the southern half of 102.7's coverage area now have a station playing their favorite music. But for the rest of us, we'll have to wait till the next tropo opening to hear WDOX.

There are 3 other oldies stations in Cape May.

106.7 is back to Fun 107 as of now. Just DXed it tonight in central NJ (it's putting up a fight with Lite FM), heard an ID for Fun 107 and oldies music.

So I'm guessing specialty show.

WFNE (Fun 107) actually had a pretty respectable first book, given the signal. Let's face it, 106.7 is never going to be a big-time player unless it's paired up with another station in the northern part of the market. But all things considered, as much as I would like to see WDOX return to FM, I think it has earned some time on this frequency based on its audience thus far: it has already posted better ratings than Coast Country ever did, and I'm pretty sure Q107 never did this well either.

It is getting to be a pretty crowded field for "Oldies" (putting the term in quotes because it's not always applicable). Kool 98.3, to the best of my knowledge, sounds pretty much like WCBS-FM does these days, drawing mostly from the '70s and '80s - without question, it's a Classic Hits station. Haven't been able to check out the new incarnation of WIBG, but I know that some haven't been thrilled about it - I'm thinking they have ventured too far sway from what is usually considered "Oldies" for some, hence the dissatisfaction. WVLT (home to Jerry "The Geator With The Heater" Blavat) and WMID-AM are both pretty good sources of true Oldies if you can get them. I haven't been able to listen to Fun 107 yet because I've had a lot of problems with their online stream (ditto for WDOX.FM - I would listen more if it actually worked), so I'm not really sure of their exact sound. I'm actually quite surprised that they managed to post such good ratings given all the competition, but if it continues to work, you might as well go with it. But if it completely fails to show up on the radar like its two predecessors, it might be time for the return of DOX one more time. It definitely would make sense with the loss of WJSE.

I figured it was too good to be true....It was just weird hearing alternative again on 106.7 and calling themselves DOX especially that they are now a classic hits station.....I also didn't know that Coastal Broadcasting operated WDOX.fm.....I'm going to check again this Sunday night and listen again to see if they do this DOX show again.

There is also a link to WDOX on 98.7 The Coast's website ..

It looks like there are more than a few who have good memories of WDOX. Perhaps it IS time for it's return but right now we sure are getting conflicting signals (pun not intended.) Have a great weekend everyone. It's supposed to be perfect. Get those stop sets filled up!!

I found out that a bar in North Wildwood (forgot which one) has DOX night every Sunday from 9-12 with 106.7 broadcasting live.....So that's the reason I heard DOX on 106.7 on Sunday night

I bet yesterday night they must have had trouble picking up WDOX in North Wildwood. The signal stinks, and almost any format will fail on 106.7 because the signal stinks.

I wonder why 107.9 in that area isn't available. It's not like a decent size signal is going to bleed through WRNB.

It is a 3-way problem:

co-channel 107.9 WRNB with a Class A signal 70 miles away (minimum is 71)
co-channel 107.9 WFSI with a Class B signal 90 miles away (minimum is 110)
first adjacent 107.7 WKHI with a Class A signal 45 miles away (minimum is 45)

And if you go too far north in Cape May County, 3rd adjacent WPUR becomes a problem. (minimum is 30 miles)

Keep in mind that tropo in that area is common in the summer. A 107.9 over there would get a lot of interference, and would cause interference to WRNB and WFSI well outside the predicted coverage area for the new 107.9. A low power 107.9 in Cape May would suffer from interference almost every night in the summer, and wouldn't be commercially viable with any format.
