Doyle in at KNEW

As if the station needed another third-tier syndicated host, Jerry Doyle will join the Talk 910 lineup come Monday, where TRN has twisted their arm to clear him live noon-3. The only local show hosted by a halfway decent guy goes by the wayside (unless they're moving him?) to make the station another computer-in-a-broom-closet talker. Just what the market needs with KGO and KSFO just down the dial.

Look for said halfway decent guy to move to nights until his contract runs out.

Perhaps SF isn't the place for him, but he did well in Philadelphia and is a class act. Nevertheless, seems like Laura Ingraham, recently departed to make room for ABCRN's new Mark Levin on KSFO, would make more sense at night than (yawn) Lars Larson or even the further delayed Bill O'Reilly.

Who's Laura Ingraham?

Actually, I believe SF was a decent fit for him...The problems are KNEW are widespread. No promotion for anyone but Savage...Katz is the number 2 guy on the station ratings-wise and does a lot on his own to promote his show. Management has spent ZERO dollars promoting the guy.

Hell, I'm not even a conservative, but I think he's a great 'radio' guy. Problem is Radio people aren't running KNEW these days.

Not to totally cap on CC (though they sure deserve it), but the SF cluster is in serious trouble. They spent loads of money on the new Quake morning show (disaster) and now they're trying to save money elsewhere. Market revenue is again down...this time below last year's bad numbers. Sales people are leaving left and right.

One might wonder what Kim Bryant is doing over there...Or if it's just one big corporate blunder. Either way, there is no leadership in that building these days.

Well, you're right, but CC should have known what to expect. KGO will always be #1 and KSFO will play a distant second with all of the top national shows. If they're not going to move Rush over, they should have a different strategy.

Why they clear Lars Larson, O'Reilly, et al is beyond me... they could make it a dumping ground for Premiere shows and it wouldn't be any worse ratings wise. Expand Beck to 1pm rather than caving in to TRN and running three hours of Doyle... so what if his ratings are lukewarm; they station sucks... no one can get numbers there. If they did move Rush over, it'd probably end up like KTTH/Seattle (stole Rush, now flipping to sports) anyway, but would get them some notoriety. At night, Phil Hendrie... so what if he got no numbers... does Lars Larson? You can buy a :60 at 9pm for $5! Not much money being made.

They should focus on the brokered crap on the weekend that brings in decent coin. Or better yet, if the place is a total loss, do what third-string CC talkers in other markets do (WJKJ/Louisville comes to mind) and broker noon-3 when you know you're not going to win. Yeah, I know that sounds like a bad idea from a radio guy, but are they trying to make money or not? Jerry Doyle won't get a 1 share, but he's free and he keeps the network happy. As long as it's not Tammy Bruce...

The way I heard it, KNEW wanted Rush badly, but Premiere opted to keep
him on KSFO...

Jerry Doyle did well in Philadelphia? Where????? The Salem station barely registers (.7) in the city of brotherly love.
